Building Memories a Day at a Time

Here we go again!
Take a peek at our exciting week!

Another Masked Reader showed up to start our week!

The kids asked some very good questions.

They figured out it was Miss Vickie from the church office!

She read to us a great book about spring!
We loved chatting with Miss Vickie.

What a great way to start our day!
We were busy learning about houses and homes this week.

Animals homes were the first topic that popped up.

The kids enjoyed creating their own animal homes out of clay.

More animal adventures popped up when we read this special book...

After reading The Best Nest,

the kids' brains went to work.

They worked together to create the "best nest".

Their design had to hold at least three eggs.

Some kids found tricky ways to protect the eggs.

Some eggs were very well hidden.

Some eggs even got stuck!
"I love my house.  I love my nest.  In all the world this nest is the best!"

The kids sure do love their morning free time!

They create the most amazing things together!

In math we were busy buying houses.

If the bank gave them money, the kids got to come up and buy a house.

After they picked a house, we checked to see how many houses were still left to be sold.

Then we practiced adding the different combinations.
3+7= 10 houses
The kids enjoyed building words "Home Depot" style!
They received their blueprint.

Then they picked out the blocks they needed to build the word.

After building the word,

the contractor wrote down the word.

Finally the inspector gave two thumbs up for approval.

Great job team!

These little houses helped us build more words.

They get so excited when they discover they can build new words!
This team was busy moving houses.

They had to rearrange the houses to make a good sentence.

After building two small houses,

the kids had to figure out different ways
to divide the keys up between the two houses.

Look carefully,

some of the kids hid the keys in the houses!

Chapel was once again led by STUCO.

This group talked about trusting in God and praying to God when we are worried or scared.

WOW!  Our total for our total for Bringing Jesus to the Streets to $2154.58.  Thank you for your generosity!
Wacky Wednesday brought some WACKY adventures to our classroom!
A tunnel showed up in the hallway to help us with reading time.

The kids had to crawl through the tunnel and pick out a word.

The word was either a wacky word or a real word.
They had so  much fun playing this wacky game.

Back in the classroom, they were busy creating WACKY things!

Here is a wacky road!

A wacky letter.

A wacky person.

Even a wacky number!

These sight words were all wacky!
The kids had to work hard to put them back together.

We read a wacky weather book that had the kids giggling and smiling!

That inspired us to play this wacky snowball game.
The kids had to catch the snowballs as they came rolling at them!

Then they subtracted the ones that got away.

We had some quick throwers in the group,
so the kids had to move fast!

This week we also had a chance to "fly" to our houses.
Mrs. Helmkamp stopped by and helped each kid have a turn to "fly" to their house on google maps.

The kids LOVED looking to see where each other lives.  :)

The kids also enjoyed playing this word family game.

If the word belonged in their house, they kept it.

If it didn't, they had to give it to a friend.

Mrs. Rivera was also busy handing out mail.

The kids opened their envelope and had to put the letters together to make a word.
The kids were on the edge of their seats as I read the book Oobleck! It took us two days to finish it, but the kids loved it!

They also enjoyed creating inventions that would protect the Kingdom of Didd from Oobleck.

They made special thrones for the king.

They had spots in the kingdom to collect oobleck.

I loved listening to each of the stories behind their creations.

They were so proud of their ideas and creations!
We finished off the week by reading this great book!

The kids built magnetic houses

and then spelled words on the houses.

They also played a HOUSE version of KABOOM!
They took a stick.  If they could read the word, they could add it to their house.

If they got KABOOM!, their house came tumbling down!

The kids also had a BLAST creating their own dream houses!

They each took a box and different materials to create a house.

They were SO proud of their amazing houses.

They even took pattern blocks and designed some houses.

I think their favorite house design...

was probably the one made from graham crackers!

Each kid received two graham crackers and a scoop of icing.

They had to figure out how to put it all together to make a yummy house!

It did get a little messy!

SWEET success!
I wonder what memories we will be building next week...
