We were all lined up for a busy week!
The KING of -ing showed up to kick off our week.
We worked on making words like: SING, SPRING, and RING!
This crazy word castle had the kids very curious.
They each took a key
and tried to find the sentence that had that word in it.
They a great time going on a sentence hunt...
and then "unlocking" the sentence!
This Dr. Seuss book was about a king turtle who was not very kind. He wanted to be higher than anything in the world. He made all the turtles stack up underneath him.
The kids did their own turtle shell stacking.
First they rolled the dice to see how many they had to stack.
Then they rolled the dice again to see how many more they had to add.
Yay!
Sometimes the stack stayed steady.
Sometimes it fell!
The kids had fun with this game no matter how it stacked up.
Time for another Monday Masked READER!
This special reader barely made it in the door before the kids figured out who she was!
Her former students knew it had to be Mrs. Rouland! :)
She read a wonderful book called My Garden.
It had the kids thinking about what they would like to grow in their garden.
The kids had so many questions to ask Mrs. Rouland.
We absolutely LOVED having her come to visit.
We can't wait to have her stop by again! :)
The castle was back on Tuesday to help us with our teen numbers.
10 people on the castle and two down below make 12!
The kids also had fun going to the "ranch" and lassoing a group of 10.
Once they lassoed a group of 10,
one cowboy/cowgirl wrote down the teen number.
We were also busy building word kites.
These tangrams had our sight words on them.
The kids worked hard to fit the tangrams together to make a kite shape.
Each kite was designed a little differently.
The kids really wanted to go home and design their own kites to fly!
This windy activity had the kids all out of breath!
The kids weren't so sure how they would turn out!
They results were so unique.
These little creative masterpieces turned out to be quite the kite designs.
Mr. Debrick showed up to help us complete our March Madness basketball.
He took the time to help the kids learn the proper form for shooting.
The kids had so much fun!
We have quite the hops in this group.
AND quite the shooters too!
The kids also worked on their dribbling skills.
They worked on weaving in and out of cones.
YES! We love March Madness!
Music class was also exciting!
Mrs. Coad brought some ukuleles for the kids to try out!
They worked together to accompany "Row, Row, Row Your Boat".
They did a great job!
We might be able to start our own band soon! :)
More windy activities blew into our classroom!
the kids had a blast blowing "balls" to their friends.
When they opened up the ball, a letter was hidden inside that the children had to practice writing.
It was a beautiful day for our Palm Parade!
Our journey to the cross began with a special parade.
This reminded us of Jesus' triumphant ride into Jerusalem.
"Hosanna! Blessed is He who come in the name of the Lord!'
Our windy fun was back in the afternoon.
This time we did some predicting and then tested out our predictions.
Some of them were surprised at how hard they could blow!
We finished the day "catching wind".
They tested to see if it was a windy day by standing still.
Then they checked to see if they would catch any wind by walking (getting them to walk was probably the toughest challenge!).
Then they tried running to see how much wind they would catch.
I couldn't believe how much fun they had catching wind!
They begged to bring their "wind catchers" home! :)
Nothing like a plastic bag and some string to bring some joy to the day!
Pastor Rouland was back to lead our chapel.
He brought his friend Rupert!
He talked about Lent and the different color of paraments that we will see during Holy Week.
Then on Easter we will see bright white!
The kids were also excited for 3 of their friends to celebrate baptismal birthdays. AND one friend is getting baptized on Sunday! YAY!
HATS off to...
CARDINALS DAY!
The kids had so much fun playing this baseball sight word game.
They pulled a card out of the baseball bucket.
They got a base hit if they could read the word, but they had to be careful not to get a strike!
Some friends even got a home run!
They also worked hard with this mixed up baseball game.
The mixed up sentence was no match for these teams.
TA DA!
The kids had fun playing this mystery baseball game!
They had to guess where their friend was sitting in the stadium.
I was SO impressed with the stadiums these kids designed!
You could just see their wheels turning as they came up with such amazing creations.
They thought of everything from where to put the seats
to the fancy entrance.
This group even had a spot to pick up your tickets, complete with an arch!
I would love to watch the Cardinals play at these stadiums!
Although the kids greatly enjoyed all of the baseball activities...
The best part of the day was reenacting our Bible story.
The kids were full of giggles when they got their feet painted!
They couldn't believe how cold it was!
Then they each had a turn to wash each other's feet.
They also practiced their "bonus" Bible verse.
"Serve one another in love."
Hopefully it will be a memory they will always remember!

We finished our Dr. Seuss month with HAT DAY!
We had a great day with Cat in the Hat.
This hat trick helped the kids practice their sight words.
Under each hat was a cat in the hat
hiding with a sight word.
We practiced our balance with this challenge game.
The kids picked out a number.
That's how many things they had to try to balance.
Then somewhere they had to hide Cat in the Hat.
Do you see him?
The kids then had a chance to "sell" some of my hats.
Mrs. Helmkamp helped us celebrate Dr. Seuss with a special "breakout" box.
The kids had to work together to solve some riddles.
The riddles all had to do with a Dr. Seuss story.
The answer to each riddle helped them open one lock at time.
When they finally opened the box, they discovered a special treasure!
What a day!
We are SO excited to see what next week has in store...
