An EGGxtra Special Week!

We went to great lengths to make sure this was a great week!

Making teen numbers with our pretend Easter eggs (a.k.a. buttons) got our brains working.
The head Easter Bunny called out how many eggs to deliver.
The helpers bunnies delivered the eggs!

We have some master Easter Bunnies ready for work!
The kids also went on a bunny hunt, writing the word down to match the picture.

Another Masked Reader arrived!

This Masked Reader works at Zion. He is a boy. He is not a grandpa.  He does not work in the church office. AND he likes soccer.

I gave the kids some bonus questions... but they finally guessed it!

Mr. Maddick!  Mr. Maddick teaches 4th grade at Zion.

He read a wonderful bedtime story called Goodnight St. Louis.
Then it was time for questions.
The kids enjoyed asking him all kinds of questions!

They couldn't believe some of his answers!
We are really enjoying our Masked Readers!
We read another great "How to Catch..." book!

Instead of making Easter bunny traps...

the kids worked together to make Easter Bunny houses.

They are so creative!

I just love all the stories that go with their designs.

They were also busy adding and stacking eggs.

They had to make a teen number

by adding to their stack of 10.

It was a little tricky to get them to stay stacked.
We were also working on balancing Easter eggs (and bunny tails).

WOW!  The Elmo easter egg took a lot of mini bunnies to balance out.

Tuesday we headed over to church to act out the last supper.

First the kids washed each others' hands.

Serve one another in love.

Then they past around the  unleavened "bread".

Take and eat.  And remember me.
Next they past around the cup.

Take and drink.  And remember me.

After we drank from the cup.  We sang a hymn together.

We then headed out the "Garden of Gethsemane" to pray.

It was great to watch them have a quiet moment with God.

I hope they will always remember these special moments.

We have some EGGcellent readers!

We were busy reading eggs

and hunting for egg matches.

The bunnies paw print

had to match the egg the bunny delivered.

The kids also had a great time pretending to be the Easter Bunny

and deliver eggs.

Once all the eggs were delivered, we had to add that up to our stack of ten.

As we headed out to the mailbox, the kids were almost blown away by the STRONG wind!

Each kid put their letters to their grandparents in the giant mailbox.

We are hoping the grandparents get them in time for Easter!

These are special cards the kids made themselves with their handprints/fingerprints.

Then we put the flag up so the mail carrier knew to come get the mail!

The kids had a great time "dying" these special Easter eggs!
They dropped some paint onto the shaving cream.

Then it was time to mix it up!
After pressing their paper onto the shaving cream...
it was time to scrap off the shaving cream.

TA DA!  We ended up with some very interesting Easter eggs!

The Easter Bunny was back to deliver more eggs!

This time the kids had to add the two baskets together.
What great Easter Bunnies we have!

The kids enjoyed this adding game.

They started with a stack of ten and rolled the dice to see how much they needed to add on.
They came up with some very unique designs!

This is probably one of their favorite activities in gym so far!

They had to work together to get the ball to fly!

It was amazing to watch how high they could get it!

The best part was hearing all of the laughter!  :)

Some jelly beans rolled into our classroom.

These jelly beans had sentences hidden in them.

They popped open the jelly bean

and read their sentence.

Sweet success!

Next up was going in the hallway with Mrs. Rivera for a jelly bean relay race.

The jelly bean team got a bag with a sentence on it.

They ran to find the first word in the sentence.

They searched for the right jelly bean word.
Then they ran back and gave it to a friend to find the next word.
They worked hard to get as many bags filled before the timer ran out.

Then it was time for our jelly belly factory!

The kids worked hard to inspect the jelly beans.

They found quite a few "belly flops"!

Some were lop-sided.

Some were even stuck together.

They also worked on sorting the jelly beans by color.

Then they picked out 15 of their favorite colors to take home.

Of course they got to do some taste testing!

Some of the jelly beans were a little sour.

Some of them tasted like coffee?!!

Some of them were even spicy!

Then they checked to see what flavor they might have eaten.

It was definitely one of their favorite stations.

Next up was painting with jelly beans.

They had to work together to get the bean to move.

It was a great jelly bean day!

The cat's out of the bag... more fun came to end our week!

We started Thursday with a very special outdoor chapel service.

We followed Mrs. Helmkamp and Mrs. Rouland.

Our first station led us two giant crosses.

The kids wrote their names on the crosses.

This was to remind them that Jesus died for their sins.

At our next station, we did a special litany thanking Jesus for dying.

Then we followed Mrs. Helmkamp to our final station.

This station was the tomb.

The kids then gathered around to hear the whole Easter story. JESUS IS ALIVE!

Back in the classroom we were busy hunting for eggs.

These eggs had words hidden on them.

The kids also had  a chance to hide the eggs.

They were also busy looking for some bunnies hiding under the eggs.

Each egg had a word on it that they had to read before they could pick it up.

They were also working hard to put these mixed up eggs back together.

When they put the eggs together correctly...

It made a sentence!

This egg relay race had the kids working hard to keep their balance.

They  had to carefully pick up a number to give to their partner.

Then they had to count out that many pom poms.

Finally it was time to go on our real egg hunt!

They were ready to go with their own original design Easter bags.

They had to look in different areas of the playground.
They each found 4 eggs.  One of them is a very special egg that contains a seed.  Your child gets to plant that seed to remind them of new life in Jesus!
They also found a wooden cross hiding in the tomb!
We wish you a very HAPPY Easter!

He is risen indeed!  Alleluia!!!
