Putting Our Best Foot Forward...

We had a lot of great adventures and special moments this week.
Come along for the journey...

We kicked off our Monday with lots of building and creating.

Mrs. Kuhlmann was our guest P.E. teacher!

The kids were fast on their feet as they played Jesus tag!

We were all set to start off our day...

In math, we were working hard to learn how to make teen numbers.

The sky held 10 tiny clouds, and some of the tiny clouds floated away.

The kids practiced making teens with the clouds.

10 clouds in the hoop + 4 clouds out = 14 clouds all together

Then they went back to the table and practiced building teens with a partner.

Little Cloud helped us create some reading cloud fun!

Each cloud had a picture hiding in it.  The kids used "raindrops" to figure out the sounds in the word.

Once they figured out the sounds, they spelled the word with their magnetic letters.

Clouds can be a little messy....

but oh so fun to spell words with!

The kids had a great time using the shaving cream and pretending it was a cloud!

Mrs. Collins called out a word, and they had to spell that word in the cloud.

In the afternoon, the kids were very excited to read this book!
The loved telling what they saw in each picture.

Then it was their turn to create their own clouds.
Once they painted their cloud,
they gave it a little back rub.
When they opened it up,

Their imaginations came alive as they described what they saw in their cloud.
Tuesday brought more exiting adventures!

We started off our day by being sneaky "KINDNESS NINJAS"!

1st -8th grade was busy taking achievement tests all week, so we thought we would give them a little dose of encouragement.

Our first kindness mission was to sneak into the 3rd grade classroom and deliver a special note.

The kids did a great job of being sneaky!

Then we headed outside for a special Jesus Time.

We had our very own palm parade.

The kids waved palm branches and shouted, "HOSANNA"!

What a special memory to kick off our Journey to the Cross.

We were also busy talking about wind on Tuesday.

Mrs. Hetlege helped the kids practice they heart words.

They caught their heart word and had to run and spell it in the wind!
The kids LOVED doing this activity and begged to keep their "wind catchers"!

In the afternoon we were busy using our own wind to make some beautiful artwork.

Our day ended with our first MASKED READER.
The kids could only ask 5 yes or no questions to figure out who it was.
After their 5 questions, they tried to guess who it was.  They were STUMPED!

Finally we revealed it was ...  MRS. KUHLMANN!
The kids LOVED listening to her read the story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff.

We can't wait for another Masked Reader to come again!

Wednesday was definitely WACKY WEDNESDAY!

Mrs. Crumrine joined in on the wackiness and let the kids use parachutes in music class!

The kids loved trying to keep the beat of the song with the parachute.
A wackiness arrived at recess as the kids enjoyed trying to catch some wind outside.

After reading this hilarious book by Dr. Seuss,

they wackiness continued as the kids hunted for wacky mixed-up words hiding in the classroom.

They also headed outside to go through tunnels.

Once they got through the tunnel, they found a nonsense word hiding for them at the end.
They had to turn that nonsense word into a real word.

Wacky pointers also appeared to help the kids read their story.

Amazing how wacky pointers help us to be better readers!  :)

In the afternoon, the kids enjoyed using wacky things to paint with.

They even used sticks they found outside to paint!

The kids loved the masterpieces they created.

Ms. Steinbacher was also back to help us act out the story of Palm Sunday.

We were ready to SOCK-IT to Thursday!

We kicked off Thursday with Fox in Socks.
In math, the kids had to pull out a number sock.

The next friend picked out that many socks.

The 3rd person on the team, had to try to toss that many socks into the laundry basket.

The laundry basket already had 10 socks in it,
so we added it to the 10 socks already in the basket.

The last person on the team circled the number that matched the number of socks.

For reading stations, we were busy looking for animal feet.

The kids had to match the colorful feet with the footprints.

On the back was hidden a secret word.

More sock fun was hiding in the classroom.

This time the kids were working together to put together a sentence.
One friend had to find the word hiding on a sock.
Then they brought the sock back to their teammate.
Once they got all of the socks in the sentence.

They worked together to put the sentence together.

The Foot Book walked into our room to inspire our afternoon activities.
We were busy measuring socks.

Mr. Marolf also stopped by to help us with a very special project.

Some kids couldn't stop giggling!
First Mr. Marolf and Mrs. McBroom painted the kids' feet.

After getting their foot painted,
a friend washed their feet.

As they washed each other's feet, they practiced saying

"Serve one another in love."
The laughter and smiles that popped up, definitely brightened my day!

It is a moment I hope these kids never forget.

Don't go yet! We have one more day to share with you!

Friday we were on the move again!

'
After gym,
We headed over to church and acted out the story of the Last Supper.

Instead of washing each other's feet,

we washed each others' hands and dried them.

Next we passed around the bread and said, "Take and eat.  And remember me."

Next up was the cup.  "Take and drink. And remember me."

After leaving the upper room, we headed to the Garden of Gethsemane and had our own time to pray.

It was a great way to start off our day and another special moment in our week.

Mr. Brown inspired us to try out all kinds of different sounds back in the classroom.

One child made a loud sound... that was worth 10!

Another child added onto their 10 with quiet, little sounds.

Then we had to figure out many sounds we had all together.
10+3= 13

Who knew making noises could help us learn our teen numbers!

For our reading stations, we went hunting for the speech bubbles.

The kids had to decide which character said which sound word.

Whew!  What a week of adventures we had!

We pray you can enjoy some peaceful moments of rest as a new week begins.
