Dr. Seuss is on the LOOSE!

We were all stacked up for an AMAZING week of adventures!

We started off our week with another great time with Mrs. Jennings.

The kids LOVED using the balloons to play different games.

They used badminton paddles and pickle ball paddles to hit the balloons.

Back in the classroom we were ready to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with READ ACROSS AMERICA day!

We read lots of great Dr. Seuss books!

Every time we read a book, we put a puzzle piece into to map puzzle.

The kids did GREAT with this activity!

We "HOPPED" into our reading stations by reading one of Dr. Seuss' classic books.

Then we went on scavenger hunt looking for Dr. Seuss characters hiding in the classroom.

Each character had a different heart word on it.
Every time the kids found a heart word, they put a linking cube on the character it was with.

At the end they counted up which character they had the most of.

In this reading game the kids were busy POPPING words!
After making the word on the giant popper,
They POPPED the letters off!

I loved watching their faces light up as the letters went flying!

Such a silly SEUSSY game!

Out in the hallway the kids enjoyed playing a hopping version of musical chairs.

When the music stopped,
they had to hop over the word they were closest to.

In the afternoon we read another GREAT Dr. Seuss book!

Then our brains got to work thinking of ways to build and create.

The kids had a really big challenge of trying out this wooden marble works game.

My mom even came back to help out!

It was a great day to READ ACROSS AMERICA.

Terrific Tuesday rolled around
and we were ready to go!

We had fun building and creating to get our day started.

TIMBER!

Such GREAT imagination we have!

Our day continued as we talked about LION and LAMB weather!

For math our LION weather was helping us with our subtraction.

When we ROARED, the lion let out some raindrops!

We took turns stomping to count out the drops.

Then we subtracted to see how many were left in the lion's mouth!

The kids didn't want to stop this game they loved it so much!

For reading time we were in search of the lambs that matched the lions.

The kids had to check out the matching numbers.

Once they found the matching number they had to read the word on the back and make it with the magnetic letters.

In the afternoon, one of the stations was to play the lion game again on their own.

They worked hard, making sure everyone had a turn.

Another station was working with pattern blocks.

These kids LOVE creating with the pattern blocks!

Wednesday we were excited to work with the story... Oh the Places You Will Go!

The kids blasted off into this reading reading in search of the hot air balloon words.

Once they found one they had to read and highlight it on their paper.

Mrs. Donner was back with a giant map and the beebots.

The kids were SUPER excited to "drive" the beebots

to the different heart words that were hiding around town.

In the afternoon, the kids enjoyed this hilarious and silly book by Dr. Seuss.

Then they set to work creating their own silly character.

My mom was back once again to help with "OH THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!" map.

They did a great job using teamwork to complete the puzzle!

"Kids you'll move mountains!"
-Dr. Seuss

Teamwork was also in full gear to create this memory work art!

The kids worked with a partner to create memory verse masterpieces.

They did an AMAZING job of compromising!

Thankful Thursday arrived with LOTS of smiles!

Dr. Seuss was on the loose hiding different 3-d shapes in a bag.

The "DR." had to take ALL of one shape.

The rest of the kids had to figure out which shape was missing and how many were hiding in the bag.

We read this WONDERFUL book about how to baby sit grandma.  Then we talked about ways we might baby sit our grandma and grandpa. The kids did a great job of coming up with things their grandparents like to do!

Then we wrote our grandparents and special friends a little note, telling them about the special day we had planned for them.  :)

Finally the moment we had waiting and waiting for... our grandparents and special friends arrived!!!!
We started off by singing a few songs for them!

Then it was time to get busy!

It was such a special day!

Filled with SO many smiles

and so many memories!

Here is a little video from our special day!

Thank you for sharing these special people with us!

Come back and visit any time!
