EGGstra Special Week!

Let's SEE what we were up to this week...

We said good-bye to Dr. Seuss by celebrating Cat in the Hat and HAT DAY!

Mrs. Jennings kept us moving to start off our Monday.

The kids were rolling for toys at "Target"!

If they got a toy, they brought it back to their team.

They even captured a hula hoop if they got the ball in it!

It was a great way to start off our HAT DAY!

We started off our math lesson with this classic book. The kids LOVED this book!

Then we took turns being peddlers and selling hats.

They stacked up the hats, adding onto 10 to make a teen number.

The kids opened their eyes when they heard the words, "CAPS FOR SALE"!

After reading The Cat in the Hat, 

we had some hat fun of our own.

A letter was hiding in each of their hats.

Once they pulled the letter out, they handed it over to the speller.

The speller of the group had to try to figure out what the word was.

They were a great team!

Our reading fun didn't stop there...

We also headed outside to hunt for hats.

Once they gathered the hats, they put them in the right order to make a sentence.

In the afternoon, we were busy stacking "hats".

First they stacked up 10 cups. 

Then they had to spin the spinner to see how many more they had to balance on their hats.

Next up they had to be like the Cat in the Hat and balance a ball, a cat, a fish, and dish.

The had to build something that would balance all of the items.

We were sad to say good-bye to Dr. Seuss, 

but we had so many more adventures to enjoy.

We started off Tuesday making some messes! We added splotches with a partner to equal a teen number.

Mrs. Martin kicked off our Jesus Time by talking to us about prayer.

Mrs. Martin started a prayer group for moms at Zion over 20 years ago and it is still going strong.

She taught the kindergartners the PATH prayer:

 Praise

     Apology

             Thanksgiving

Help

Then she helped the kids write their own PATH prayer.

I hope they can share their PATH prayer with you.

After reading this number version of the Tortoise and the Hare, 

We did a  little number racing of our own.

After they raced to the number,

they had to see which teen number was greater.

For reading stations we were busy hunting for the bunny.

One partner hid a bunny underneath a word egg.

The other partner could only ask "yes or no" questions to try to figure out where the bunny was.

The kids worked well together on this tricky new game.

We were also busy playing the bunny switch game!

The kids could only switch one letter at a time to try to make a word.

In the afternoon we were busy dying some eggs in a very special way!

First they had to paint some shaving cream.

After placing a piece of paper on top of the shaving cream...

They lifted off the paper 

and scraped off the shaving cream.

The kids loved the surprise masterpiece that popped up!

Mrs. Crumrine worked her magic on Wednesday!

Then she taught the kids the bunny hop to end music class.

We hopped our way back through the crazy rain, 

to celebrate JELLY BEAN DAY!

Mrs. Donner hopped into our classroom to help with our jelly bean adventures.

She helped the kids build a jelly bean catapult.

The catapult launched the jelly bean to a bunny paw print.

Whatever paw print they landed closest to, they had to write down the heart word that was attached to it.

In the hallway we were doing some jelly bean reading.

Each jelly bean had a word on it.

The teams worked together to make a sentence using the jelly beans.

They had to check the jelly bean bag to make sure it matched up.

We also used jelly beans to help spell words.

Each jelly bean stood for a sound.

We had a special devotion time in the afternoon.

After reviewing the story of Jesus dying on the cross, the kids each nailed a nail into the cross.

As they did it, they said "I am sorry!".

Then it was finally time for our Jelly Belly Factory.

At one station the kids were looking for "belly flops".

There were looking for jelly beans that were too big 

too lumpy or bumpy,

or even stuck together.

Then they weighed and sorted them.

The kids also had a chance to create their only jelly bean.

Each team worked together to paint with jelly beans.

They had to figure out a way to get the jelly beans to move.

They even did a few dance moves to make these masterpieces!

The kids also worked at sorting the jelly beans by colors.

The tricky part was using a tweezers to  pick up the jelly beans.

Once they sorted them, 

they picked out 10 jelly beans to create their own bag of jelly beans.

The kids also had fun measuring with jelly beans.

It was a great jelly bean day!

Thursday we had a very special way to start off our day.

Mrs. Lohman led our chapel service.  We did three didn't stations of the crosses.

At the second station, we watched our sins disappear.

At our final station, we gathered around to hear a story.

We finished our special chapel by creating our own very cross rock.

Our afternoon started off with an EGGstra special egg hunt.

The hunt ended with a cross the kids found in the "tomb".

Back in the classroom we were busy trying to balance eggs.

First they had to roll the dice to see how many eggs they needed to balance on their stack of ten.

It was little tricky to get it to balance.

EGGcellent work!

This silly book inspired us to create special hiding places for our eggs.

The kids worked together to create structures to hide their eggs.

It was my job to try to find the eggs.

They created quite the trap doors and secret compartments.

It was a great EGGscape for sure!
