What a Wonderful World.

Watch out!  Another busy week headed your way...

We were all lined up to get moving with Mrs. Jennings.

Then it was time to play "hungry hippos"!

We started off our reading stations reading sticks.

The kids used the reading sticks to create something.

We were also trying to get all our "ducks in a row".
Mrs. Collins took a group outside to play "DON'T GET WET" with the little ducks.

They had to read the word hiding under the duck.  If they got the word "WET", they got sprayed!
In the afternoon, we were busy decorating gift bags  for our homebound friends.

We made quite the masterpieces.

Some frogs showed up to help us play a little "GO FISH".

If they didn't get a match, they had to "go to the pond" to get another card.

Our final station was the pond animal weigh station.

They had to guess to see if a frog, a fish, a duck, or a log would be heavier.

Tuesday the kids were excited for their morning free time.

They did a great job of working together to build and create!

More ducky adventures popped up in math class, as we counted by 10's with our linking cubes.

Then we had to see how many stacks of 10 it took to balance out our ducks!

These little ducks were all mixed up.

The kids had to work to put the sentence in the right order and find the right punctuation mark to end the  sentence.
Our little duckies were back!
This time we read the word underneath the duck.

Then they picked a second duck to read and checked to see which was the heaviest word!
Mrs. Martin stopped by this week.

This time she taught the kids a little Spanish, using a story about a mama duck and her 8 ducklings.

She definitely put a "SONRISA" on our faces!

The kids enjoyed ending the day by creating their own ponds.

I love watching their imaginations at work!

Wednesday we were back in action with Mrs. Crumrine.

She had them moving their arms to the beat of the music.

They had to figure out the pattern of the music.
We also had chapel on Wednesday, which was led by Mrs. Kuhlmann.
The kids had to guess which  characters said which lines.  We were reminded that Jesus says, "I LOVE YOU! YOU ARE SPECIAL!  YOU ARE MINE!"

We also celebrated Wyatt's baptismal birthday!  YAY!
Back in the classroom, we discovered lots of junk had appeared in our classroom!
We worked together to PICK UP THE TRASH!

Then we talked about ways we can REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE.
This silly book reminded us the importance of taking care of our earth and even gave some special tips on how we can do that.

Mrs. Donner showed up for a special activity for our reading stations.

The kids were so excited to use the CHOMP saw to create a pond scene!

They used scraps of paper, cardboard and buttons to create their masterpieces.
Look what we were up to at this station!

Each piece of trash had a word attached to it.

The kids read the word to their teammates and worked together to build with the junk!
The kindergartners also worked hard recycling "heart words".
Once they picked up their heart word,
they had to deliver it to their recycle bin.

Ms. Steinbacher joined us in the afternoon to play another fun memory verse game!
Every time the kids found a match, they had to say their memory verse.

We love it when she stops by!

Our final station was to finish packing up our special gifts for our homebound friends.
A special group from church, called the BREEZE BEACONS, delivered the bags for us.

The residents were blown away by your thoughtfulness and generosity!
One  comment was, "I can't believe the kindergartners can paint like that!" and one lady chose a certain bag because she had ja acket that matched a pair of socks in the bag.  She couldn't wait to wear them!  :) I can't thank you enough for helping us SHINE!
We had a few more learning adventures up our sleeves...

Thursday were back to work counting by 10's.
The kids had to work together to sort items by 10's.

When they were done, they counted by 10's to see how much they had at their table.

The kids chirped with excitement as bird activities flew into our classroom.

They worked hard to listen for the vowel sound on the little birdie.  Then they flew the bird to the right birdhouse.
Another group went outside to look for bird words.

They had to find the right egg that matched and write it down.
We were also very excited for the Lutheran High Roboteers to show up at recess!
Their robots shot off balls

and even parachutes!

It was a great time!

Our bird adventures kept going with a favorite classroom story.

Then we wrapped up our bird fun by using tongs as pretend beaks!
First the kids tested out which "beaks" worked the best.
Then they had to build a nest carrying items over with their beak.

When they were finished, we checked to see if their nest could hold an egg.
The kids also had the challenge of building a paper bird (a.k.a paper airplane).

Then they checked to see how far it would fly!

Our week wasn't quite over...

The parachute floated into gym class to start off our Friday.

The kids had an amazing time and couldn't wait to tell me all about it!
Look carefully!  We were busy throwing money around in math class!
The kids took turns making it rain dimes!

They had to be careful because some pennies tried to sneak in there too.

Some fun turtle activities popped up in our pond exploration as we read this story by Jan Brett.

Then this little turtle showed up to help us with our reading stations.

Some letters were hiding under its shells.
When we pushed it down, the letters exploded out from under the shells!

Then we had to figure out what word to make with the letters.
The kids LOVED this game!  Some may even be asking you for this turtle for Christmas.  :)
Next up, we headed out to the hallway sneak across the pond.

Once they made it safely across the pond, they had to pick up a word.
They had to read their word and take it carefully back to their teammates.
A MASKED READER stopped by to end our day.
The look on their faces when the Masked Reader popped in was priceless!  :)

Can you guess who it is? The kids did!
YES!  It was Mr. Marolf!
He read Dragons Love Tacos 2.

The kids were a little hesitant to say hi to him after the story.

But they warmed up quickly!
What a special way to end our week!  ROAR!
Thanks for stopping by!

Come back next week for more adventures!
