National Lutheran Schools Week: Make a Joyful Noise!

There's no business like SNOW business!

We started reading this classic book and then...

Ventured out on our snowy day!

We made all kinds of fun tracks.

And acted out the story of The Snowy Day.

Can you figure out which part of the story these pictures go with?

It was a great SNOWY RECESS!

For our reading stations, we kicked it off with a little sight word snowball fight!

Next up was snow fort cvc words.

First they had to read the cvc words.

Once they read the word, they added it to the fort.

The kids also enjoyed writing letters in real snow.

In the afternoon we were busy balancing ice cubes, snowballs, and snow piles.

We even weighed a cup of real snow.
It took 15 linking cubes to balance the snow.

Wednesday it was time to put our game faces on!

We had a ball playing our action subtraction game.

The best part was cheering our friends on!

We had to subtract any buckets we didn't make.

Who knew subtracting could be so fun!

Before our reading stations, we read this great story about sportsmanship.

Then we worked together to put these alphabet jerseys together to make words.

Once we built a word, we highlighted the word on our paper.

Next up was working together to put these jerseys together to make a sentence.
Each jersey had a word hiding on the back.

Once they finished their jersey sentence, they double checked to make sure it was a match.

The kids had a ball playing this sight word toss game.

They had to read their sight word before tossing it into the bucket.

Mrs. Collins even had a group in the hallway playing word hockey.

We also ventured outside for a little more snowy fun.

In the afternoon the kids were working hard at subtraction bowling.

However many pins they knocked down, was how many they needed to subtract.

What time is it? GAME TIME!

Thursday brought in some wacky kiddos!

The kids enjoyed some free time to build and create.

We also checked on our snow cake.

We wanted to see how long it would take for our snow cake to melt.

We were also busy doing some wacky subtraction.
Next we hid the items under the wacky bowl.

The Wacky Tacky hider revealed how many were left.
The kids had to guess how many were hiding under the bow.

Next up was this amazing story! If you haven't read, please do! It is such a great reminder that God made us all unique.  My favorite quote: "Look with kindness and you will always find wonder."

Then it was time for some wacky reading!

The kids had the challenge of making a letter out of the slime.

They also had fun making wacky towns.

They had to read the word before building with it.

Lunch time it was time for a treat!

Ms. Steinbacher joined us for our memory verse activity.

It was a fun matching game!

YAY! Wacky Tacky Day!
Before we left... We checked on our snow cake. It was actually a slush cake by the end of the day.

Friday was the ultimate spirit day!

We started off with a special school wide chapel.

Mr. Maddick led our service with some fun singing and dancing.

The Joyful Noise also sang  a beautiful song for us that brought many to tears.
Next up... Mrs. Jennings took the whole group into the gym to get some energy out!

Back in the classroom we were doing a little polar bear reading.

Once they read their polar bear, they used the magnetic letters to spell it

We were also busy playing DON'T BREAK the ICE with our vowels.

We finished our day with some fun wintery background paintings.

It was a spirit-filled day!

Three cheers for a great week!

Thanks for stopping by!

We'll see you next week!
