The Perfect Week!

A beautiful week of fun adventures!

Mrs. Jennings had the hungry hippos working hard this week!

Gym wears us out, but keeps us smiling too!
We started the week with some MONSTER-OUSLY fun adventures.

We put on some special monster fingers

and went in search of some letter-monsters to tickle!

Once we tickled them, we wrote that letter on our paper.

This monster only ate words that started with /m/.

The kids had to be careful,
he sometimes nibbled a finger or two!

This birthday girl was excited to find a FUN library book.

Don't forget to bring your library books back Monday!

Our illustrator of the month had the kids AMAZED at his scissor art in this book.

The kids had fun creating their own monsters out of clay.

First they had to spin the wheel to see how many eyeballs the monster would get.

Then the monster asked for "one more please".

The kids had to add more eyeball to their monster.

They also enjoyed creating their own Ed Emberley inspired monsters.

They used all kinds of crazy shapes to create these masterpieces.

More monster fun popped up on Tuesday with this great story!

The kids enjoyed feeding these monsters some candy.

They had to match the candy to the correct monster.

The picture on the candy
had to start with the same letter as the letter on the monster's treat bag.

The kids were also busy helping these monsters find their buddies.

One monster had picture on his belly.

The kids had to look for the monster on the carpet that had the letter that matched.

The kids also had fun with these magnetic monsters.

Once they picked up a monster,

they had to find that letter on their paper and color it.

For math we were busy rolling the dice to see how much food our monster would get to eat.

Then the kids took turns feeding the monster some food.

But he was always still hungry!

So we had to feed him "ONE MORE PLEASE"!

Another great monster book by Ed Emberley that helped us talk about different emotions.

The kids enjoyed measuring these little monsters with linking cubes.

Then they wrote down how many linking cubes long their monster was.

It took a lot of breath to make these windy monsters!

The kids had to blow the paint around to make a design.

Then we folded the paper to see what kind of crazy monster appeared.
The kids even got to name their monsters.

We can't wait to share them with you!
Wednesday we were busy talking about pumpkins as we started off reading this silly story!

In order to go to the pumpkin patch, the kids had to take a "ticket".

Their pumpkin ticket had a picture on it.

The next step was to go to the pumpkin patch

and find the pumpkin that had the matching letter on it.
They used a special detective wand to find it.
These pumpkin seeds helped us write our letters.

First the kids had to grab a letter from the bucket.

The next step was to use a pencil to write the letter in the seeds.

In the afternoon the kids were magically turning their polka-dot pumpkins into tie-dyed pumpkins!

They squirted the dots and watched them disappear!

More pumpkin adventures coming soon...

Pastor Fieberkorn led our chapel this week.  He gave us a sneak peek into the Reformation story.

Thanks again for your amazing generosity!

Back in the classroom we were getting ready to have a petite piggy party!

These pigs were hiding under the party cup.

The kids had to write down the letter the pig was hiding under.

Outside our piggies ran away!

Each kiddo took a turn to grab a pig.

Next they showed their teammates what letter was hiding on their pig.

Everyone had to write that letter down.

The kids had a BLAST designing their own piggy party!

They had such great imaginations!

Each kindergartner had their own story to go with their creation.

They used alphabet sticks and wooden blocks and of course piggies to tell their story.

This party also had a little pom pom tossing game.

The kids had to toss the pom pom to a letter.

Their partner had to write down the letter the pom pom landed on.

In the afternoon we read this HILARIOUS book!  The kids couldn't stop laughing!

Our party continued with this missing piggy game.

After putting the pigs in the right number order, they took turns guessing which pig was missing.

We also played our own version of "Keepy Uppy".

The kids each got a turn to pick a number between 1 and 10.  The rest of the group called, "one more please" and added one more.

Then we had to try to hit the balloon that many times.

It was pretty tricky to keep it up in the air 11 times!

They LOVED this game!
The kids also enjoyed painting their memory verse with balloons!

They turned out to be quite a beautiful mess!
We weren't done yet...
Mrs. McBroom took a paper towel and made a cross on them to remind us...
"God cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7"

Friday we started off our day playing capture the piggy!

The kids had to try to capture the piggy.

Their were some friends who were protecting the piggies!

If you got tagged, you had to put your hands on your head until a friend set you free.
In the classroom we were busy going on a picnic...

In math we rolled the dice to see how many pieces of food we had at our picnic.

We placed that many pieces on our ten frame, but wait...

We were still hungry, so we added ONE MORE PLEASE!

Before starting our picnic reading stations, we read this silly book about a bear having a picnic birthday party!  It was almost ruined by one pesky fly!

We had a little picnic fun with this GOTCHA game.

First the kids had to match up the alphabet sandwiches.

Next they whispered "GOTCHA" as they used the swatter to catch the letter in the classroom.

The kids also enjoyed using play-doh to make letters.  Some friends even made words!

The kids could hardly wait for our pretend P -PICNIC!
They enjoyed all kinds of yummy foods that started with P as we celebrated Fruits of the Spirit  and had a picnic.

They enjoyed peaches
plums,
 and pineapple, too!

They also enjoyed pretzels and peas!
Of course they had to be very polite at this picnic.

Principal Debrick even join us for some parachute fun!

The kids each had a chance to find something that started with P to put on the parachute.

Then they practiced saying the /p/ sounds as they shook the parachute.

What a perfect parachute picnic with our principal.

This hilarious book had us singing and dancing in the afternoon.

Then we got to work making our own polka-dot P's!

We were also busy trying to make these picnic recipes.
We had to follow the "recipe" to see how much ketchup and mustard we needed.

The kids used red and yellow counters to help them figure it out.

Then the kids had to find the right hot dog that matched the total numbers of counters.
Who knew math could be so yummy!

What a BEAUTIFUL way to end our Friday!

Stay tuned to SEE what pops up next week...
