Red Ribbon Week!

We weren't sleeping on the job...

we were celebrating RED RIBBON week!
Mrs. Jennings had a fun balloon party in the gym!

They had a blast playing "volleyball" with the balloons and big balls.

We kicked off the morning reading one of my own kids' favorite books... PAJAMA TIME!

For math we were busy sorting pajamas, slippers, and stuffies.

The kids had to figure out how I was sorting things.

Can you guess how we sorted these pajamas?

This silly Pete the Cat book inspired us to have some more pajama fun!

These crazy pajamas had words on them.

The kids each picked a pj...

and read the word.

Then the team had to practice spelling that word with the magnetic letters.

The kids also went on a pajama hunt.

The kids each found a picture and had to find the letter that the picture started with.

The letters were hiding on the pajamas.

In the afternoon we were painting tiny blankets.

They also put on their creative thinking caps and designed beds.
Look at this gigantic bunk bed!

When they were done creating, they had to practice sorting all of their items into the correct tubs.

The kids also had fun measuring their stuffies.
They couldn't believe how many linking cubes it took to get around this onsie!

Check out how many linking cubes it took to measure these Elmo slippers!
Pajama Day wore us out, but we were already for our next adventure...

A bunch of movie characters showed up on Tuesday.
Maverick from Top Gun.
Mario characters.
Sky arrived too.
A bunch of princesses came too!
We also had some superheroes.

Student Council members started off our day with a wonderful presentation about taking care of our bodies.
We were also busy talking about fire safety as we read this great alphabet book.
The kids were busy saving letters during our reading stations.

The fire rescue helicopter picked up the capital letter.

It flew to the fire station
and grab the lowercase water drop.

The helicopter flew back and everyone wrote down the letter that was saved!

We also headed outside to practice hopping through the ladder to save some words.

As they hopped to the letter they had to say the sound.
When they reached the end, they put it all together to make a word.

Our day wasn't quite done yet...

In the afternoon we were busy finger painting fire!

We discovered red and yellow make orange!

We were also busy making fire safety graphs.
They rolled the special fire safety dice, then covered up the right space to make a graph.
Another great day, but we weren't done yet...

Some SUPER heroes arrived on Wednesday!
We were off to save the world!

We headed over to music class with Mrs. Crumrine to start our day.

The kids were busy singing praises in music class.
We took our super powers to the classroom for some Jesus time.
Back in the classroom we were busy talking about more super heroes... FIRE FIGHTERS!
The kids picked up a picture and drove it to the correct letter.

We also read this incredible book called The Invisible Boy.  We talked about how we never want any of our friends to feel "invisible".
We had a great time with our invisible Ii project.
The kids had to write their Ii's with a white crayon on white paper.  Then they painted over it to reveal their invisible letters!
They were also busy making the letters become invisible under the cape!

The kids had fun saving some pictures.
They had to find the fireman that matched the first sound of the picture.
Next they had to find the hat that matched the firefighter.
The last step was to find the house the picture belonged in.
They did a great job with this three-step game!
In the afternoon we were busy sorting.
They had to spin the spinner to figure out which shape to pick.
Then they sorted the shape by color, shape, size, or even thickness.
The kids had a great time creating this invisible art project.
After drawing a picture of them showing kindness,
they painted over it with a special paint.

Their picture magically appeared through the paper!

The kids were. also working together to save the numbers!

If they had the next number in line, they raced to put it in the right spot!
What a SUPER day!
Thursday we were ROCKIN' the 80's!

We had a very special chapel that started with delivering our super hero toys!
Trinity Orchard Farm Lutheran School came to lead our chapel!
They did a great job of sharing the gospel message through the story of a pumpkin.
They also led us in a beautiful version of This Little Gospel Light of Mine.
We even found a familiar face in the group.
Back in the classroom we were working together to sort buttons.
The kids worked in teams to figure out different ways to sort the buttons.

After reading this FANTASTIC story, the kids were excited to be inventors!

The kids worked in teams to build a word.

First they picked out a block that had a word on it.

Then they had to go find an object that had a letter hidden on it.
Then they brought it back to their team.

Then the inventor took the objects and. created something!

Mrs. Donner also joined in on the fun to help the kids invent something.

I LOVED hearing about their ideas!
They are SO creative!!!

The kids had fun playing this disk game!

They read the word...

Then they slid it back to me!
They did a great job of helping each other practice the words.
In the afternoon we read The Most Magnificent Idea!
The kids had SO much fun taking things apart!

I was impressed with their persistence!
And such great teamwork!
They were so excited when they figured out how to get things open!
It was one TOTALLY TUBULAR day,

filled with some BODACIOUS memories!
Our week was almost complete...
We were full of SPIRIT for Friday!
More fun volleyball time in the gym.

Back in the classroom we were busy cheering for our letters!

For math we practiced sorting our snack!

They had to pick two different ways to sort their snack.

For our reading stations we were busy hunting for pumpkins.

We also played a missing letter game.

They had to guess which letter from my word was missing and write it down.

We also had a blast using these giant poppers!
First we put the letters down to spell a word.

If we were patient, the letters popped back up at us!

Mrs. Collins took the kids outside to play a BOBCAT relay race!
They had to find the right paw prints to spell a word.
Once they found the right letter they hopped back to their teammates.

One friend was cheering for the letters as another friend put the letters together to make a word.

In the afternoon the kids were busy using loose parts to create people!

After they were done making their person,

They practiced sorting, putting all of their pieces back in the right spots.

Our Friday Reader brought a HILARIOUS book!

She kept the kids laughing and giggling the whole time!

The kids wanted to read the book again!

It was the perfect way to end our fun week!

YAY!  What a great week!
