We ZOOMED right into Lutheran School's Week!
Our Zoom Call outfits looked fantastic!
From head to toe we were dressed for success!
We stayed busy typing on our pretend "computers"
as we practiced reading and spelling some CVC words.
The kids absolutely LOVED doing this! Some of them even knew what a typewriter was!
Next up was a little fishing for our popcorn words.
Once we caught a fish
we had to feed the polar bear!
Another polar bear game had us hopping. Mrs. Collins asked the kids a letter sound or to read a word.
If they got it right, they could hop to an iceberg.
In the afternoon we pretended to ZOOM with our illustrator of the month Jan Brett.
She taught us how to draw a polar bear!
The kids did a great job of following directions.
CRAZY DAY brought quite the CRAZY outfits
and CRAZY HAIR too!
We also had some more crazy fun with Tacky the Penguin.
Each penguin had a letter in front of him.
We had to toss the snowball to the right penguin.
We also had fun reading these icy nonsense words.
The kids had to read the silly nonsense word that was hidden in the iceberg.
Then they sent the iceberg to their friend.
These silly penguins helped us with our subtraction.
We had to feed the penguin some fish
Then we had to write down the number sentence to show how many fish were left.
YUM! YUM!
You can't catch us sleeping the day away on PAJAMA DAY!
We even had little time to dance to PAJAMA TIME!
Mr. Debrick led our chapel this week.
He reminded us no matter how old we are, we have a job to do...SHOW GOD'S LOVE.
Thank you for your generosity! YAY!
Through your generous donations, Zion raised over $1500 in Chapel Offering that will help to supply at least 100 kids in Africa with their school supplies.
Back in the classroom we went on a pajama hunt!
The kids went looking for pajamas hiding in the classroom.
Each pajama had a popcorn word on it.
The kids had to find the pajama with the popcorn they had.
We also had to get the right pillow to the right kid.
Each pillow had a popcorn word on it.
When they were done they had a graph of pillows!
The kids loved playing the zip line pajama game!
After reading the word on the pajamas,
the kids sent the words flying down the zip line!
It landed right into the clothes basket.
The kids had to write the word and type the word out.
Reading to their stuffed animal was also something the kids enjoyed.
This elephant was learning his alphabet.
We also celebrated pajama day with some pancakes!
Chris Cakes came and served pancakes to the whole school!
Some kids said it was the "goodest" day ever!
The pancakes definitely were DELICIOUS!
We finished the day with 5 sleepy bears.
The kids took a card to see how many bears fell out of bed.
Then they wrote down the number sentence to show how many bears were left.
Thursday we were in a HOLI-DAZE!
Can you guess some of our favorite holidays?
Some of us wore a bunch of our favorite holidays.
Holiday adventures kept us busy. First we worked on an easter egg hunt.
We found a word or a letter in the egg
and we had to practice writing that letter or word.
Some Halloween spiders crept into our room to help us with our reading.
The spider crawled to each word on this list.
The kids LOVED reading a book called YES DAY! Yes Day is a pretend "holiday" when a parent has to say yes to everything!
The kids built their own "Yes Day" ideas.
Some kids built bouncy houses.
Some kids "Yes Days" meant going to a baseball stadium.
Some kids wanted to stay up as late as they wanted for their "Yes Day", so they built a tv!
Don't be surprised if the kids try to make "Yes Day" a holiday in your house!
The kids were surprised at how fun it was to paint with yarn!
Some of their artwork looked like fireworks.
Some kids even made patterns and pictures.
No matter what holiday is your favorite...
The best way to spend it, is with friends and family!
Storybook Day was a great way to end our week.
It was so fun to see and hear about the kids' favorite books!
The kids did a great job of making scenery for their stories.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom made a jungle.
Sister Bear from Berenstein Bears made a bear cave.
Robin made a hideout.
Here is a dinosaur.
And of course this little panda needs a hug!
We also had some fun with Student Council at Winter Wonderland.
We started off with a little dance party.
Next we enjoyed some hot cocoa.
Mmm... it was perfect for this cold winter day.
We also got to get cozy and listen to some fun stories.
The kids had a blast!
They didn't want Winter Wonderland adventures to end!
Thanks Student Council for a fun morning!
Back in the classroom we were back to work.
We were busy making cookies!
We made little gingerbread people.
We couldn't wait to eat them!
While we waited for our yummy cookies to bake,
we had some fun playing in the "snow"!
We rolled up some snow into a ball.
The kids loved the way it felt!
Then we placed them on the tray.
Some one took some of the snowballs away.
We had to write down the number sentence to show how many snowballs were left.
WOW!
It was such a fun way to practice subtracting!
Finally it was time to eat our cookies!
Wait... What? The cookies were gone!
Where could they have all gone???
All that was left was a little note saying the gingerbread man would be back Monday to go on a little adventure with us! Stay tuned to see how this adventure ends!!!! :)
Cheers to a GREAT week!
We can't wait to see what adventures POP up next week!
