The snow was already starting to disappear
but the wintery adventures continued this week.
A bunch of snowmen popped up in our room...
The kids loved measuring the different snowmen.
The kids couldn't believe how tall this snowman was!
This one was just about the same size.
Olaf was only 4 linking cubes tall!
We also played a new snowball game.
I called out a word. If the kids had it, they tapped the word on their game card.
Opposite Day was the opposite of boring!
We had some very interesting outfits and hairdos too!
Our opposite obstacle course in gym class brought lots of moving and shaking!
We were jumping in and out.
We were going up
and down.
We had to duck under our arms
and jump over the hula hoops.
We went fast
and slow.
The kids did a GREAT job with this!
Back in the classroom, we were busy playing an over/under sight word.
The kids peeked inside to discover what sight word they had!
Another opposite game we were playing was matching the capital letters
to the lowercase letters.
Brrrr... it was a cold adventure with polar bears!
Building with black
and white stacking cups was an exciting challenge.
We also used big and little cups.
These kids even made a path to their tower.
We practiced adding "polar bears" and "penguins".
When they shook the beans out they had to count how many landed on white
and how many landed on black. Then they wrote out the number sentence to match.
They LOVED this activity!
This week we also celebrated National Penguin Awareness Day!
We read a lot of great penguin stories including some fun "Tacky" stories (the kids were begging for more)!
One story we read about Tacky he got lost at sea, so we decided to make him a raft.
Mrs. Helmkamp came to help us with this project.
When the kids were done building their rafts,
they put a penguin on it to see if it would float.
Some of them floated.
Others needed a little more work.
We also had fun playing a game called "Waddle, Waddle".
The kids had to read their penguins.
If they had the word I called out,
they had to call out, "Waddle, waddle!"
We also went on a penguin hunt in the hallway.
Mrs. McBroom gave them a word to read, and they had to find the penguin that matched.
Another fun penguin game! This time we were putting icebergs together to make sentences.
Once we figured out the sentence
we had to push the icebergs to the right penguin.
They are becoming such good readers!
We had a visitor pop by in the afternoon!
Her name is Miss Julia. She is Mrs. Reed's cousin, but they kids thought she looked A LOT like Mrs. Reed! But she does talk a little funny! :)
She stopped by on our "colorful" day to help us make some special water.
We had to follow the recipe to help out at the "Big Cooking Show".
Two cups yellow water...
Plus two cups blue water...
Made 4 cups of water.
What mystery water did we make???
YES! GREEN WATER!
We can't wait for Miss Julia to stop by again soon!
We finished our week by reading this AMAZING book. It reminded us that we are ALL wonders!
"Look with kindness and you will always find wonder."
We ended the day by looking at some fetal models.
The kids were AMAZED at how real they looked (and how heavy they were!).
This a baby that is 30 weeks old.
This one is 26 weeks old.
The kids couldn't believe everything this tiny baby could already do in its mom's tummy.
By 20 weeks the baby is kicking, hiccuping, and even has facial expressions.
What's even more amazing is that God already knows and LOVES a baby no matter how old it is. No matter what size it is.
This 12 week old baby
can fit in the palm of our hands.
What a great reminder that God is holding us in the palm of His hand... ALWAYS!
Thumbs up for God's amazing love!
I have called you by name; you are mine.
Isaiah 43:1
WOW!
The week just flew by!
We are all ready for more CRAZY adventures next week!
