We had a wonderful, "snowy" week!
We looked for signs of snow, but only rain fell from the sky.
SOOOO... we made our own snowy fun!
The kids had fun creating their own little clay snow creatures.
the kids had a great time creating loose parts snowpeople.
Some snowpeople were even as big as them!
Some had long noses.
Some had long hair.
Here is a snow cheerleader!
I love the imagination these kids have!
We also used some special snowmen to help us spell words.
The kids also LOVED playing a fast passed game of smash the popcorn word.
They had to smash the popcorn I called out before someone else did!
We also learned some fun facts about snowflakes.
Each snowflake has six points.
No two snowflakes are the same!
Just like these amazing kindergartners,
each snowflake that falls from the sky is unique!
The kids did a great job of designing their own snowflakes out of pattern blocks.
Amazingly enough, each creation was unique.
No two snowflake designs were the same!
We still couldn't get the snow to fall,
so we had a little messy, cold fun in our classroom.
We practiced spelling words in snow (a.k.a shaving cream)!
We also practiced adding snowballs.
We tried to make snowballs,
but it was a little tricky!
It was a lot of fun though!
We were also busy making sight word snow forts!
They had to pick a card and find the sight word cup that matched it.
Then they turned it into a snow fort.
Watch out! Our snowy fun continued with a snowball fight!
Each snowball had a word on it that the kids had to read.
Then they threw the word at a friend to read!
Another snowball game helped us work on our adding.
We tossed the snowballs into the bucket.
Then we counted to see how many landed in each bucket.
Then they added up all the snowballs .
YAY! We love this game.
Building a snowball throwing machine was also something the kids enjoyed.
They had fun coming up with their own designs.
Some of them even got their snowball machines to work!
We finished our week of snowy adventures with snow cones!
The kids got to pick out two different kinds of sprinkles to put on their snow cones.
What colorful snow cones!
And SO yummy!
As we ate our shaved ice, we did an experiment to see how long it would take a bowl of ice to melt.
We were sad to see this week end,
but we know more "COOL" adventures are on the way!
