Undercover Adventures

We were looking everywhere to squeeze fun into this short week!
We were undercover looking for clues to find the gingerbread man!

The gingerbread man sent us clue number one.  Clue number one had us calling Mrs. Stanglein down in the Sonshine Center.
Mrs. Stanglein's clue said...
We figured out it must be Mrs. Rouland!

She did have clue number 3.

It told us to knock upon the window of Mr. Maddick!

We headed outside to find Mr. Maddick's window.

Sure enough we saw some footprints and a clue on his window!

It told us to find the window of grade #2!

We kept walking down the sidewalk until...

We saw Mrs. Ford waving to us with another clue!

Her clue said...

Of course that had to be Mr. Marolf!

He told us all about how he had seen the gingerbread man!

The gingerbread man said..."Run, run as fast as you can.  You can't catch me; I'm the gingerbread man!"

He had another clue for us that told us to find someone who likes the Chiefs???

We figured out it had to be Mr. Debrick so we headed to his office.

Before we stopped by to see Mr. Debrick, Mrs. Holtz stopped us.

She had a clue that had gotten stuck to her shirt!

Her clue told us to go see Mrs. Bernhardt!

We stopped by her window...

Sure enough there were footprints all over it!

We also found another clue...

So we headed to see the cooks!

Their clue told us to enjoy some recess under the sun.

After recess we came inside to wash our heads and discovered another clue!

This one told us to head to the church basement.

We discovered Mrs. Adams waiting for us.

She said the gingerbread man flew by and dropped a clue.

Her clue was a little tricky...
We finally figured out it had to be Mr. Thoelke.

We were right!  He was in the church switching out the candles.

He also had an unusual clue that told us to look for the gingerbread man's uncle????

We discovered a picture on Pastor Feiberkorn's window.

When we knocked on his window, he had a clue for us.

The clue told us to go up some stairs.

We saw some stairs that led up to the junior high building.

This clue said...
We were pretty upset. This seemed like the last clue we could find until...

we saw one more attached to a cone in the parking lot!

The last clue told us to head back to the classroom

to find a special surprise.

When we got back all we found was  a book by Jan Brett.

We did find a special note hiding inside.  It said the gingerbread man would return later in the day. The book gave us some ideas of how to catch the gingerbread man.

We started off by making gingerbread man traps.

The kids worked really hard on their traps

and were so excited to see if they would work!

We were also busy making a gingerbread house.
We thought maybe that would trick him into coming back to our classroom.

The kids were so proud of their house!

We stuck it to the door and headed out to recess.

We snuck back inside hoping our traps worked.

We were so surprised at what we found!

Some of the traps had been bumped, but...

We did NOT find the gingerbread man.

He did leave us a picture of himself

and our cookies were back complete with some yummy icing!

The kids had so much fun decorating their cookies.

They were almost too beautiful to eat...

well... ALMOST!

What a YUMMY adventure!

Tuesday we had Mrs. Helmkamp leading our wonderful chapel.

She reminded us that we should not keep God's love hiding in a box.

God's love is meant to be given away and shared.

A few more gingerbread adventures popped up in our room.

We also had some fun with groundhogs!

The kids had fun matching the ground hog to his shadow.
When they read the word on the shadow

they had to find the ground hog that had the same word.

I think the groundhog might have seen his shadow??? Seems like we have more wintery days ahead.

We also have a lot more adventures to uncover next week!
