YAY! It was a great week for WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD!
We kicked off the week with Musical Monday!
Mrs. Thoelke led us in a special music concert.
The kids also enjoyed moving to music
as they painted to different styles of music.
We finished Music Monday with another special visitor.
A mom of our kindergartners came and taught us a few things about the clarinet.
It was the perfect way to end our day.
Tasty Tuesday was also Spirit Day!
Before heading out on our walk, we posted our prayers on our PRAYER WALL.
It was the perfect day to go for a nature walk
looking for living and nonliving things.
Since it was Tasty Tuesday
we were cooking up some yummy treats!
Although some of them were made out of play-doh
we were also baking a real tasty treat.
The kids all had a special part in making PUDDLE CAKE!
First they added the dry ingredients.
Then they set to work adding the puddles!
While we waited for it to bake, we set to work talking about flowers.
The kids even made their own flower gardens.
Tasty Tuesday
would not have been complete
without enjoying our popsicles.
YAY! Three Cheer for Spirit Day!
Sports Day...
definitely kept us moving and a shaking!
Some fun 5th graders joined us to help play some baseball.
We practiced a little batting

We definitely had some homerun hitters in the group.
The kindergartners even pitched to the 5th graders.
We also worked on our catching
and throwing!
We also worked on catching pop flies
and fielding some grounders.
Those 5th graders were AWESOME helpers!
They were such good coaches and so encouraging!
It was a great way to start our day!
Basketball was the next sport we practiced.
The kids dribbled their way through their popcorn words.
They dribbled each letter then past the ball to their partner as they said the word.
Those popcorn words sure kept us on our toes.
They also got to work
designing their own sport stadiums!
At recess the fun didn't stop!
The kids made up their own fun game of catch!
They had a "ball" playing together!
Our day wasn't done yet!
Leaps and Bounds came
and brought some more activities for us!
The first station was Goodnight Construction Site!
The kids were able to dump
and build.
The book Snowballs brought a fun parachute game!
The kids shook the snowballs to see how high the snowballs would fly!
They got pretty close to the ceiling!
Another book was Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
The kids went crawling through the "cave"
to find the animals in the cave.
Finally it was time to end our day with a sweet treat!
The kids enjoyed the puddle cake!
It was a SWEET success!
Whew! What a busy day.
What a GREAT day!
Artsy Thursday brought in a whirlwind of fun!
And a few crazy kids too!
Mr. Debrick even joined in the fun!
We had fun with the artist Jackson Pollock.
The kids had a great time
experimenting with different painting tools
They threw paint, bounced ping pong balls, and stamped.
They created quite the masterpieces!
It was definitely windy, but
it was definitely fun!
Hang on! We weren't done yet...
It's PAJAMA TIME!
We kicked off the day with a pajama conga line!
The kids were also busy buying pajamas in our classroom.
They had to read a clue
and find those pajamas.
Then they had to pay for the pj's.
They are super shoppers!
Our best adventure of the week was heading over to church.
We reenacted the story of the Last Supper.
We washed
and dried each others' hands.
"Serve one another in love".
Then we passed around the "bread".
"Take and eat. And remember me."
Then we passed around the "cup".
"Take and drink. And remember me."
We closed by singing a peaceful hymn.
Then we headed into the sanctuary.
We took a few minutes for a quiet time of prayer.
It was an amazing moment
hearing them whisper their prayers.
We finished our fun week
by working together to create
some beautiful murals.
Without a doubt, it was a great week to be a young child!
