We PICKED a great week to enjoy some learning adventures!
Monday we kicked off the morning working together to build these amazing towns.
Then we headed to the gym.
The kids LOVED playing this piggy game!
Some friends were the taggers.
They worked hard to protect the piggy!
Other friends were very sneaky and tried to still the piggy.
Our study of nursery rhymes continued with this version of The Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Then the kids headed outside for a spidey reading game.
They had to be very careful as they made their way through the alphabet spider web.
While one friend walked on the letters,
the rest of the group was busy writing down the word they spelled.
Another spider game was matching the capital and lowercase spider letters.
Then the kids had to bring it back to the table and practice writing those letters.
In the afternoon, we read this beautiful version of The Itsy Bitsy Spider. It is written and illustrated by our illustrator of the month Ed Emberley.
In math we were busy playing a jumping spider game!
After throwing 10 spiders and making them "jump",
we kept score in our 10 frame of how many landed on the web and how many didn't.
Then we wrote the two numbers and sent them down the spout to make 10.
The kids also enjoyed making their own spouts.
These special pipes had numbers attached to them.
Before they created their spout, they had to put the numbers in the right order.
Our week of learning adventures was just getting started...
Tuesday we were busy working on learning a new mystery number game.
After putting the numbers in the correct order as quick as they could,
The kids hid a number from their partner.
More spider fun continued in this web of learning.
The kids used the tweezers to grab a spider out of the web.
Then they carefully placed on a letter on their alphabet chart
and practiced writing that letter.
They had to be very careful not to get caught in the web!
Another group was searching for letters
as they worked together to make a word.
We had some jumping spiders outside!
This group was leaping
through the web looking for rhyming spiders.
They loved this game!
In the afternoon the kids were busy making the spiders crawl down the stick.
First they had to spin the spinner.
Then they carefully slid that many spiders down the stick.
The tricky part was they had to use a tweezers to pick up the spiders.
It took a lot of concentration.
When they were done, they counted to see how many spiders fit on their stick.
The kids put on their creative thinking caps to create some amazing spider webs!
They couldn't help but smile when they got stuck in these webs!
We weren't laying down on the job... Mrs. Crumrine had the kids playing a very fun game in music class!
On Wednesday Mrs. Crumrine held up a certain type of movement as she played a classical piece of music.
The kids had to move to the music by following the directions on the picture.
Look at these monster walks!
We've got some dancers in the group.
Eventually they fell asleep!
Pumpkins popped up in our classroom on Wednesday!
The kids were very surprised how these polka-dotted pumpkins turned out.
Do you know how we made them?
This group was busy looking for the matching seed.
After picking up the seed, they used the magic pumpkin wand to go to the pumpkin patch.
Then they tapped the uppercase pumpkin that matched their seed.
These kiddos picked out a letter pumpkin
and had to make the letter using pumpkin seeds.
In the afternoon, the kids were busy with some more spinners.
This time when they spun a number, they had to pick up that many seeds.
Then they had to drop them in their tiny pumpkin bucket.
After they ran out of seeds, they counted to see how many seeds were in their bucket!
Thursday we had a little more time for building and creating during our morning free time.
We also had time to learn a new song.
The kids couldn't help but smile at their partner when they sang it!
Time to head to chapel...
Mrs. Adams led our chapel this week. She told us the story thankful leper.
Thank you SO much for your generosity! We are now up to $1, 828, which provides 13 days of breakfast for students from Bethlehem school.
Back in the classroom we had a blast reading this book about a pig wanting a party!
We played a little party game and hid letters under party plates.
The kids had to give a clue about what letter was hiding under their plate.
Then everyone else had to write down what letter they thought was hiding.
We also had some alphabet pigs that were playing "hide and seek".
The kids had to find the pig and write the letter down.
In the afternoon we read this hilarious book about Gerald and Piggie being invited to a party!
So we decided to play a few party games...
During this game, the kids had to pick a number piggy.
Whatever number they picked, they had to count out that many piggies.
Some kids challenged themselves to get the piggies to make a tower.
Mrs. McBroom was busy playing pin the magnet on the piggy!
The kids had eight magnets they had to try to put on the pig with their eyes closed.
When they opened their eyes, they had to count how many were on the pig and how many were off.
Then the team wrote down the number sentence to match the piggy.
2 magnets on + 6 magnets off = 8 magnets
The last group had to work together to put the pigs in order from 1-10.
Then they each took a turn randomly picking out a number card.
Whatever number they picked, the team had to hit the balloon that many times!
The kids LOVED this game!
We had a great time partying and learning at the same time!
Friday we were ready for some smiles and sunshine!
In gym the pigs were back for more sneaky fun!
The kids worked so hard to capture the piggies!
The sun disappeared but that didn't stop our picnic fun!
The kids said, "This is the best day ever!"
Needless to say they LOVED having a picnic snack time!
We also brought our picnic to math!
Some friends threw food out on our picnic blanket.
We had to keep track of how many was on the blanket and how many pieces were off.
The kids also enjoyed having a parachute picnic.
They took items that started with the letter P for a ride!
They also practiced spelling words with letter ping pong balls on the parachute.
In the classroom we were putting together sandwiches for our picnic.
The kids had to match the picture with the letter that it started with.
Another group was busy spelling words with letter sandwiches.
They each took turns picking out the next letter in the word.
The last person had to assemble the sandwich in the correct order.
Learning is SO yummy!
In the afternoon we were busy assembling picnic food.
First they had to pick a number.
Whatever number they picked, that's how many pieces of food they added to their food pile.
The kids also enjoyed building with pattern blocks.
I couldn't believe the beautiful coats of many colors the kids also created!
We have quite the fashion designers.
And of course we had to have an indoor picnic with foods like, pretzels, pineapple, plums, pears, and peaches!
Our day was not complete until our Friday reader arrived!
The kids LOVED hearing the story Road Crew Coming Through!
What a special way to end our busy week!
