Take a peek at this MAGICAL week!
We were busy "building" lots of great memories.
As usual, we kicked off the week with Mrs. Jennings in gym class.
Polar bears were on the lose trying to catch some fish!
The kids ALWAYS look forward to gym class. :)
In math we were busy at our tent store.
Some tents were plain and
some were fancy.
We had to keep "inventory" of the tents.
We always had a total of 5 tents.
At our table we had the challenge of NOT coloring with our crayons...
We had to arrange 5 crayons in different ways.
These kids are so creative!
For reading stations we were busy matching alphabet rocks to the right tents.
We had to write down which tents we found.
Some magic tricks popped up too.
The magician made a letter disappear with the magic wand!
The other friends had to guess which letter disappeared and wrote it down.
In the afternoon, the kids enjoyed using the magnatiles.
They also added magnetic people to their designs.
They LOVED watching the people climb down the magnatiles.
Tuesday we were back at building and creating with our free time.
We were busy riding on the train in math class.
We had to figure out how many boys and girls were on the train and add it up. Notice there was a monkey driving the train!
These little monkeys took over our campsite just like our story about Curious George!
The kids loved using the monkeys to pick up different letters.
Then they took it back to the table and wrote down the letter.
In the afternoon we were busy measuring our camping gear with "marshmallows".
Wednesday we headed to music class to play a fun apple game.
These kindergartens all got hit with apples!
After music class, we headed to the flag pole to celebrate "SEE YOU AT THE FLAGPOLE".
We met a wonderful group called "MOMS IN PRAYER" who led us in a very special prayer. It was a beautiful experience. If you want to ever join the MOMS IN PRAYER group, they meet every Wednesday morning.
Back in the classroom we were practicing scaring the bears away from our campsite!
We used these little "bear traps" to trap the bears if they got to close to our letter.
The only way to let them out was to say the correct letter sound.
The kids LOVED this game!
We were also hunting for alphabet bear prints in the classroom.
The kids also headed outside to do a little listening in some camping chairs.
They had to draw a picture of what they heard.
It was a little tricky to sit very quietly to hear everything around them.
In the afternoon the kids were making campsites again.
This time they had to bears to their campsite. Look at this teetor-totter!
Silas wanted to give the bears a slide to play on!
The kids also enjoyed making this special snack to go along with a camping story.
They had to count out 10 of everything... rocks, stars, fish, sticks, inner tubes, and ants.
The kids couldn't wait to eat it!
Finally Camping Day arrived!
Let us show you what a GREAT time we had...
First up... using our binoculars and flashlights to look for tents.
They had to match the rock to the right tent.
The kids also got to read in tents.
Mrs. Helmcamp took the kids in the hallway to listen to camping sounds.
The kids had to guess what they were hearing!
In the afternoon we were ready for a SENSE-sational camping adventure!
One camp site we were using our sense of site.
The kids went on an I SPY hike with Mrs. Steinbacher.
The kids found lots of little treasures along the way... a star,
a rock,
a feather
and a cross.
Then they went fishing for some alphabet fish with Mrs. Beel.
At this campsite the kids used their sense of touch to create constellations with marshmallows.
They also made different shapes...
They even made letters.
Mrs. McBroom also helped the kids make camping collages.
The last station was making S'mores!
Mr. Marolf helped us use our sense of smell
and of course our sense of smell!
It was messy, but
OH SO GOOD!
Camping Day was a SWEET success!
Our week wasn't quite done...
Friday we were excited to celebrate with these two birthday buddies!
And the kids loved playing this pizza party game.
It was a race to see who could put the most "toppings" on their pizzas.
The kids worked hard!
Friday also brought some fun singing...
and dancing!
In math we were busy adding our trail mix.
The kids had a blast making different combinations with their trail mix.
Then of course they got to eat it!
I told the kids to take the rest of the trail mix home so they could teach you the game! :)
the kids worked together to make letters out of sticks and stones.
They also worked together to make some wonderful creations!
At another station, the kids were enjoying writing with sticks in sand!
I should them a picture, and they had to write the beginning sound in the sand.
They also loved reading in the tent one last time.
The kids also worked hard figuring out which alphabet rock was the heaviest.
They had to practice writing the letter rock that weighed the most.
To end our morning, we had a special Friday reader.
Grandma Sue came to help celebrate Sam's birthday with hilarious story about a boa constrictor!
It was the perfect way to end our morning.
The kids went searching for sticks and stones.
They even got to decorate the stones.
Then they put them in a special bag that reminded them that "Friends STICK together because friendship ROCKS!"
The kids also worked together to add sticks and stones.
They had to roll the dice to see how many sticks and stones they would need to add.
This day ROCKED!
Wow! What a week!
How will God bless us next week?
