Lots of smiles and and adventures popped up this week!
We started off back in the gym with Mrs. Jennings.
The kids had a blast playing different partner games...
And some games they could even play by themselves.
First up in math we played an exciting dice game.
After rolling two dice, we had to figure out which number was greater.
We also practiced using our alligator mouths to eat the greater number.
After reading the story The Dot, we talked all about art.
All we have to do is "make a mark".
In order to be creative, we just have to be willing to try and do our very best.
Then we got to work making our own dots.
We also found pictures hidden under dots.
Then we practiced saying the first sound we heard in the beginning of each picture.
In the hallway we were writing down the letters that we saw on the dots.
Then we hopped over the dots.
While hopping, we said the name of the letter and the sound that it makes.
We discovered the pool was a like a giant dot! The kids attempted to build with dominoes in the pool!
Next up was making dots all over a coffee filter.
The kids had fun "making their mark"!
Then we sprayed it with water and watched what happened!
The kids LOVED watching their colorful dots spread everywhere!
Next up was SMOOSHING some dots.
When we twisted the two dots together,
the kids were SO surprised to discover a masterpiece!
Just "A DOT" but a lot of fun celebrating this special day together!
Tuesday we were ready for more creative adventures.
In math we were spinning our way to greater and fewer numbers.
Next we made a little graph of red or green apples.
The last step was to draw how many apples fell off of the tree and compare the two trees.
The kids picked their own apples from the apple orchard.
They used a magnetic wand to pick them up!
When they brought the letter apple to the table,
they practiced making that letter with the special dough.
The kids also enjoyed playing apple bingo.
They are working hard to practice their letters and letter sounds.
We were also busy in the hallway making sure these little worms found the rest of their apple.
Once they found a match, they wrote it down.
The kids wrote their own story of how many apples they could balance on their heads.
We were also busy playing this balancing game.
First the kids had to spin the spinner.
Whatever number they landed on, was how many they had to try to balance.
It took a lot of concentration.
Some liked working on the floor.
While others found it easier to be at a table.
We added some extra excitement to our day by learning how to play BLINK!
This new card game is similar to UNO, but you can match by color, shape, or number.
Eventually we will pick up the pace and lay our cards as quickly as we can!
This day stacked up to be a great day!
Wednesday we headed first thing to music class.
Mrs. Crumrine let the kids try keeping a steady beat with drumsticks!
They LOVED it!
Next we headed to chapel with our freshly painted cross leading the way.
They kids LOVE dancing to our theme song!
Mrs. Helmkamp led our chapel.
She talked about how sin ruined our perfect world, as she tore her beautiful picture in half.
Then she "fixed" the torn paper as she reminded us that Jesus come to save us from our sins.
Thank you SO much for your generosity! We have already collected over $250.00 for Bethlehem Lutheran School.
Back in the classroom we were busy with more apple activities.
This station was busy building with their apple trees.
Each branch that they balanced had a letter on it.
They had to tell their friends the name of the letter and it's sound
before balancing it on their trunk.
At this station the kids were busy hopping ants to apples.
Whichever letter the ant landed closest to,
the kids had to bring it back to the table and practice writing it.
The kids also enjoyed using flashlights to discover the "secret" letter hiding in the apple.
Look carefully. Do you see it shining through?
In the afternoon we ventured down to the kitchen and sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Miss Pam!
We also delivered LOTS of beautiful cards to her!
In the afternoon, the kids LOVED reading this book about a very special tree.
We talked about how some of us might have special trees of our own.
The kids enjoyed adding "apples" to their trees in this math game.
They rolled the dice twice.
Then they used tweezers to add pompoms to their trees.
Then they looked to see which apple they had the most of and wrote that number down.
The kids also had a blast painting their own trees. Later in the week we told a little story our special tree.
The kids also had a chance to build their own trees.
Ms. Steinbacher was back with another fun memory verse activity!
The kids had to lead each other
and guide them while one friend wore a blind fold.
They practiced saying their memory verse: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart", with each step that they took.
Their goal was to make it to the tree.
They did SO great with this activity!
Bring on... Thursday!
We were busy working on this matching apple game.
They had to quickly match a lowercase seed to an uppercase apple.
This group was busy BOBBING for apples!
When they pulled the apple out, they discovered a letter hiding on the apple.
They had to give their friends a secret clue as to what letter they picked.
Then everyone had to practice writing that letter.
Another group was busy "tapping" words out on these special drums.
I gave them a word, and they tapped a "drum" for each sound they heard.
This was a great way for them to start hearing each sound in a word.
In the afternoon we were busy coring apples.
The kids LOVED turning the crank and watching the skin come off.
They had to use their muscles!
AND it helped to smile too! :)
When Mrs. McBroom pulled the apple off,
The kids were shocked to discover the apple looked like a SLINKY!
Then the kids were very brave and tried the skin of the apple.
Some of the kids absolutely loved it!
Others were not big fans.
The kids had a blast coring the apples and couldn't wait to see what we were going to do with all of the apples!
We were all set for dancing on Friday.
Then it was time for APPLE ADVENTURE DAY!
At this station we were doing some investigating.
Our balance was busy as the kids compared the weight of all kinds of apples!
These little scientists were also eager to look at apples up close.
Maisie even found a stem!
The kids even got to paint with some apples!
Then we taste tasted a variety of apples.
They were very brave and tried some new kinds of apples.
The kids LOVED the apples!
Next up the kids voted for their favorite apple.
Honey crisp was our winner!
After reading The Biggest Apple Ever,
We finally had a chance to try our apple sauce.
Some weren't so sure they would like it.
A lot of the kids gave a thumbs up of approval.
Some even wanted seconds!
The kids also had a chance to build an apple tree.
It took some problem solving skills to get it to balance.
Some kids even attempted to balance real apples on their tree!
These girls balanced two apples.
Three apples was one too many!

The kids last station was having an apple race.
They couldn't believe which color won!
They loved this game!
A WONDERFUL Friday Reader came to finish out our day!
The kids love hearing this hilarious story about sharing donuts!
We love spending time with our Friday readers!
Two thumbs up for a great APPLE ADVENTURE DAY!
We can't wait to see what God has in store for us next week!
