We were back for another fun-filled week!
We started off in the gym, telling the Easter story.
We pretended to be the women walking to the tomb.
When we got to the tomb....
We found out it was empty!
SOOO... we RAN back to tell the disciples. Peter and John RAN back to the tomb.
This time we had to go inside to see for ourselves that the tomb was empty.
We used a special trick to sit inside the "tomb".
We even ran under the parachute to celebrate!
He is risen. He is risen indeed! ALLELUIA!
Back in the classroom we were being DOT detectives.
The kids had to figure out if the word started with a capital D or a lowercase d.
They used special eyeballs to find it!
We were also busy learning about ducks.
These ducks were all mixed up,
so the kids worked hard to put the mixed up sentences back together.
The final part was putting the correct punctuation mark on at the end.
Another reading station headed outside to read a bunch of swimming ducks.
In the afternoon, the kids had a chance to figure out which ducks were the heaviest
and which ones were the lightest.
Then they sorted the ducks by heavy and light.
Mrs. Martin was back to teach us some more Spanish.
This time we were practicing counting ducks!
Our week was off to a great start!
More ducks waddled into our room!
These ducks stomped on the letter d.
They had to be careful not to get tricked by other letters.
If they were successful, the duck sang them a little tune!
Some more ducks were swimming on the pond.
The kids read the words hiding underneath.
Then they had to write the word down.
Ducks are so fun to read!
These nonsense ducks helped us play a little game of DUCK DUCK GOOSE!
More duck measuring in the afternoon.
This time we were checking to see how many inches long they were.
And how many inches tall they were.
We had all our ducks in a row.
Ms. Steinbacher was back to help us with our memory verse.
She reminded us that God is with us ALL the time.
They found pieces of a puzzle,
When they put it all together it made a clock!
Our week was just getting started...
The rain couldn't stop these smiles.
Wednesday we started off with some fun dance moves with Mrs. Crumrine!
The kids ROCKED it!
We were hoping to take our show on the road.
The kids LOVED reading this story to remind us about how to take care of our earth.
Our reading stations also reminded us to reduce, reuse and recycle.
On these little pieces of "junk" were some words.
After reading the word, they had to write it.
Then they had to build with it.
They couldn't believe some of the things they were able to balance!
They were very proud of the stories they came up with to go along with their creations.
Mrs. Collins was busy helping the kids recycle words.
The recycling truck came and dropped off a word .
Once they read the word, they put it in their recycling bin.
The kids did a GREAT job of learning about how to take care of the earth.
In the afternoon we were VERY excited for another Masked Reader!
The kids did a fantastic job of asking questions.
They figured out it was Mrs. Crumrine!
She read to them one of her favorite books when she was a kindergarten!
We had so many questions for her after her story.
We also had a lot of high fives
and hugs for her!
We can't wait for the next Masked Reader.
To end our day we enjoyed a wonderful strings concert.
The kids had a great time at the LOLLIPOP concert and learned so much.
We were ready to face another rainy day...
We enjoyed chapel, which was led by Mrs. Kuhlmann and the first graders.
They did a great job of reminding us of the Easter story.
Indoor recess brought a lot of creativity!
The kids also worked together to put some puzzles together.
the kids took turns sorting the money.
Then they hopped by 10's to count the dimes.
After reading another book about one of our favorite characters, we learned some more about spring and flowers.
Then for our reading stations we got to work matching flowers to flower pots.
The capital letter flower had to match the lowercase flowerpot.
We were also busy sorting flowers to the correct flower basket family.
A very special visitor showed up in the afternoon... it was Miss Pam one of our school cooks!
The kids were surprised to discover she is a flower expert!
Miss Pam is a florist for Schnucks, so she know a lot about needs and flowers.
The kids had SO many wonderful questions for her!
The kids loved having Miss Pam come to visit.
We were full of energy on Friday!
Back in the classroom...
We were busy shopping for turtles!
I gave some children some pennies.
They had to figure out which turtle they could afford.
The kids absolutely LOVED this game!
When they pushed the turtle down...
They had to wait for the turtle to pop!
The letters got all mixed up,
so they had to put the letters back together and write the word down.
Jan Brett and her story Mossy showed up in the afternoon.
The kids had the challenge of drawing a turtle with Jan Brett.
Then the kids created their own loose parts turtles.
They also had a chance to go shopping for turtles.
They picked a turtle they wanted to buy.
Then they went to the bank to get enough money to purchase the turtle.
Then they went to pay for the turtle.
We definitely have some SUPER shoppers!
The kids also worked on a special art project.
They were very surprised at how they turned out!
It was a beautiful week...
Stay tuned to see what adventures are headed our way next week!
