We were in GREAT shape to have another fun week!
In gym class the kids are playing all of their favorite games to finish out the year...
Monday they played OSCAR the GROUCH!
The kids loved playing this shape game.
First they had to pick out a shape.
After they read the word and told their friends the word,
they had to write the word down.
The next step was sliding the shape in the shape house.
The kids also had fun doing this sight word shape obstacle course.
The kids then got to make their own "new toy".
Take a peek into our Tuesday adventures.
We were having fun on a farm!
These kids were delivering the right letter eggs to the farmer.
They took turns finding the egg and loading it up on the tractor.
Once all the eggs were delivered to the head farmer,
the head farmer had to put the letters together to make a word.
This tractor was busy delivering letters.
Once they got a letter they had to find the beginning sound barn to match it.
The kids also played this sight word barn game.
They had to pick a farm animal. On the animal was hidden a sight word.
They had to find where that sight word was hiding in the barn.
In the afternoon we headed over to church to find out about Mr. Thoelke's job.
He showed us the different pipes.
And even played a few songs for us
as he showed us what all the different buttons do.
The kids couldn't believe how loud he could play!
We had so many great questions for Mr. Thoelke!
We had a great time learning about Mr. Thoelke and his amazing talents.
Back in the classroom we were ready for more farming.
The kids practiced their subtraction with farm animals.
They created their own subtraction stories.
Then they had a blast playing this hide and seek game.
Once the animals were hidden, they had to figure out how many their friend hid.
Then they set to work finding the animals.
They could have played this all day!
We had a great time being farmers for the day!
Wednesday was more dancing fun with Mrs. Crumrine as we kept the beat with our instruments.
Back in the classroom we were on the look out for ZOO animals!
These little sight word animals escaped from our zoo!
So we had to take inventory of how many we could find.
The kids also went outside to find to some zoo animals with words hidden on them.
Once they grabbed two of them. they had to see which word was heavier.
In the afternoon, we were SO excited to have a vet come!
She brought some special friends for us to feed and pet.
She even had a squirrel for the kids to pet.
It was great learning what it is like to be a vet!
We also enjoyed celebrating with Julia!
She is one of our special helpers that works in the kitchen.
The kids each made her a card that she truly treasured!
Our busy day wasn't over...
The kids also had a chance to make their own zoo!
They put out prices for each "show".
Then they had to go to the bank to get money to go to the show.
With their money they paid the zookeeper to get in.
We LOVED this game!
The kids were also busy weighing zoo animals.
They could even try to balance the big ones with the little ones.
Mr. Debrick led our chapel Thursday.
Thank you SO much for your generosity! We have far surpassed our goal for raising money for the Lutheran Bible Translators.
Take a peek at our fun adventures with boxes!
We started off by reading this wonderful book about boxes. It's true! A box really can be many things!
We used these boxes to help us make sentences.
I gave the kids a sentence,
and they took turns finding the next word in the sentence.
They also had fun reading directions.
After reading the directions,
They had to figure out what to do to the boxes.
The kids LOVED using markers and writing words on the boxes.
The kids had a blast creating with different types of mini boxes.
A very unique visitor showed up in classroom!
She looked a lot like Mrs. Reed, but she talked a little different!
Miss Julia helped us learn about following a recipe.
They had to mix 2 cups of yellow water
with 2 cups of blue water.
What did we get... 4 cups of GREEN water!
We also had the perfect day to release our butterflies.
In the afternoon, we were all set for our final Spanish lesson.
Mrs. Martin taught them about their body parts!
A few more box adventures in the afternoon.
Our day with boxes was complete!
Friday we were all set to play have some fun with Mrs. Jennings.
We also discovered it was our last ZERO HERO day!
We soared into our fun adventures.
We were learning to be pirates on Friday, so we had to "walk the plank" to get our treasure.
I told them what coins to pick up, so they had to step over the other coins.
When they picked up all the coins, we counted to see how much money they collected.
We were also busy making -ar words so we could talk like a pirate.
Once they made a word, they put a coin on their paper to cover it up.
Mrs. Collins took the kids outside for some pirate adventures. If they picked a word that had "ar" in it...
they had to walk the plank!
That's all for now!
Next week will fly by so...
Stay tuned!
