We Had a BALL!

We were back and ready to celebrate EASTER!

We had a special resurrection party with with some of our preschool friends!

When the kids went to go look for an egg...

they discovered it was empty!

This was too remind them of the empty tomb!

Jesus is ALIVE!

Back in the classroom we were busy filling up Easter baskets!
We practiced counting by 10's to see how many "eggs" our baskets would hold.

Then we counted by 10's to measure the table.
Our table was 90 linking cubes long!

The kids absolutely LOVED reading this hilarious book about an impatient caterpillar!

Next up we were busy finding the hidden caterpillars hiding in their cocoons!

I hid a word under one of their cocoons.
They had to guess which cocoon it was hiding under!

The next activity was putting together the mixed up caterpillar sentence.

These sight word eggs had a butterfly hiding underneath.

The kids had to ask questions to figure out where the butterfly was hiding.

We were very sneaky at this game!

In the afternoon we were working on painting symmetrical butterflies.

After painting one side, we folded it and gave it a little back rub.

Ta da!  A beautiful butterfly!

We also went on a special Easter egg hunt!

Some of the eggs had little treasures to remind us that Jesus bring new life!

We even found some crosses in the tomb!

On Wednesday, Mrs. Crumrine was back with more stretchy rhythm fun!

Some special "friends" joined us in our classroom!
We can't wait to see the next stage of our little visitors... Stay tuned!

In the classroom we were busy swatting "b's"!

The kids had to be careful to only smack the "b's".

It was tricky because there were some p's and d's hiding in the pile too!

The kids were also busy matching the butterfly to it's correct flower.
The kids also partnered up to hide words inside of these cocoons.
Then they rolled them to their friend.
No peeking!

Once they read their word, they had to circle it on their paper.

The kids also enjoyed putting together these giant sight word caterpillars!

We were hard at work making textured paintings for our hungry caterpillar too.

In the afternoon we got to work creating the different stages of a butterfly.

We also used caterpillars and butterflies to review adding to 10.

First we rolled the dice.
The next step was putting that many caterpillars or butterflies in the 10 frame.

After counting up the empty spaces, the kids wrote out a number sentence.

It was a beautiful week, but we weren't done yet...

Thursday we had a BALL as we worked on our "-all" words.

We pom pom balls to. help us stretch out the sounds in words.

We are getting to be really good word detectives, hearing all of the sounds!

These tiny little ping pong balls had words hiding on them.

The kids had to read the word

and then find the baseball player that had the same word on it.

In the afternoon, Mrs. Martin came to teach the kids Spanish.  She will be back Monday with another fun lesson.

Friday we had our game faces on!
It was BASEBALL DAY!

The kids lined up with dimes in order to get tickets to the game.  If they had a penny or nickel, they could buy popcorn or a soda.
The kids were back hunting for the baseball players again.
This time they had to write as many of the players' words down as possible.
Some of them found 22 baseball players!

The kids also enjoyed shooting our word ping pong balls into the hoop.

They had to see how many points they could score.

We even had a little baseball relay race outside!

In the afternoon the kids were excited about our baseball snack.

Before eating it, they had to create some kind of pattern.

They were also busy writing down numbers that they found hidden on old baseball cards.

They had to look really carefully to find them!

Creating baseball stadiums was another fun challenge for the kids.

We have quite the architects in kindergarten!

Some 6th graders also stopped by to help us!

We LOVED working with them.

They pitched to the kindergartners.

We are quite the sluggers!

We even played a little catch with them.

Back in the classroom our buddies read to us,

and we read to them!
We love our new friends!

We can't wait to hang out with them again!

Baseball Day was a hit!
We will catch up with you next week!
