WOO HOO! We had a great week celebrating Lutheran Schools Week!
Take a peek at our exciting week!
After a little free time because of the rainy day...
We snuck outside to get a little hot chocolate from our student council.
It was yummy way to warm up!
Then we headed outside with Mr Debrick to play a little reading FLAG FOOTBALL!
This kids had to run through the cones and assemble the words to make a sentence. On their flags were hiding sight words!
Inside we were working hard on dribbling our popcorn words.
The kids had to bounce the ball for every letter.
A-N-D
Then they passed the ball as they said the word!
The kids LOVED practicing their popcorn words this way!
We also played a little hockey.
They goalie wrote two words down on the dry erase boards.
The hockey player had to shoot the puck that matched the right goal.
They were so good at this game!
Our fun day wasn't over yet...
In the afternoon, we spent some time with our buddy 7th grade class.
We played with play doh.
We made cards for the new nursing home across the street.
A little ping pong bounce game.
The kids loved building with marshmallows!
Check out this smiling monster!
The kids LOVED working with their buddies.
They made some great friends!
They now get so excited when they see them out on the playground or in the lunchroom.
We've got spirit yes we do! We've got spirit how about you?
3 Cheers for SPIRIT DAY!
He reminded us that we are all CHOSEN by God. We may have plans for our future, but the true plans are those that God has chosen for each of us!
It was a very special way to start the day!
When we headed back to our classroom, some very special little ones walked by our room.
We love seeing our siblings walking around. :)
Back in the classroom, we were busy doing cheers to practice our letters and letter sounds.
Give me an E!
What's its sound?!!!
LOUDER!
First up was ski jumping.
The kids set up an obstacle course of sight words.
Then they had to jump over the word as they practiced saying it.
The kids got a little cold during this ice hockey game.
They shoved an icy letter to their partner
as they said the sound.
Their partner had to slide the letters together to make a word.
A little bobsled racing
had our brains working double time.
First they had to create their own ramp/hill.
Then they had to read the word on their sled
as they sent it flying!
The bobsleds were back for math!
This time they were helping us practice our subtraction.
If the sled fell off of the ramp, we had to subtract the points.
5 sleds - 2 sleds that fell off = 3 sleds left
A little "curling" action had us working on our number writing skills.
One player gently shoved the scooter towards a number.
Whatever number it touched
was how many points the other teammate wrote down.
The kids were amazed by the video on what the olympic sport curling really looks like!
We finished out our stations with a little "ice skating".
The kids had a blast painting with ice!
They couldn't believe what was happening to their ice as it touched the powdery paint!
You can count on us for more learning adventures...
It was a PARTY IN THE USA on Thursday!
We started off our day with a very special reader!
Hesleigh's great aunt came all the way from Florida, so she stopped by to read to the kids!
It was such a WONDERFUL way to start our morning!
Ms. Steinbacher joined us outside on another dreary day recess.
We brought out a few loose parts for the kids to create with.
These boys worked so hard to create an amazing ramp!
After comparing polar bears and penguins, we set to work at our reading stations.
We were busy fishing for sight words at this station.
Once we caught one, we brought it back to our team
and then fed it to the polar bear.
These little penguins were hiding in our classroom.
First we pulled a word out of the bucket.
Then we had to find the penguin that matched our word and write it down.
These polar bears were missing their icebergs!
The kids had to match the capital letter polar bears to the lowercase icebergs.
Ms. Steinbacher was back in the afternoon to help us practice our memory verse.
It was memory matching game of "God's children".
We were also busy measuring arctic animals.
Check out some of our fun patriotic outfits!
We had a very creative group of alphabet characters! Can you guess what each one wore...
L is for Luke and ?
C is for Connor and ...?
A is for Ari and...?
G is for Grace and...?
Our day began with an all school assembly in the gym.
Mr. Maddick led a wonderful song and devotion.
His "happy dog" was not inflated.
Boomer the Bobcat helped him get CONNECTED.
Then the happy dog was ready to go! He reminded us that we need to stay CONNECTED to God in order to be filled with JOY!
Mr. Weinhold got us all pumped up!
Then the cheerleaders came out and led us in a few cheers...
and dances.
GOOOO Bobcats!
We found some fun people who matched our outfits!
We were excited to meet BOOMER!
Back in the classroom we were hopping our way through the alphabet.
First they created their own alphabet obstacle course.
Then they got their jumpers on!
The kids also enjoyed painting with yarn.
It was interesting how each kid had their own idea on how to use the yarn.
Some kids even created a picture with the yarn.
This Friday reader SURPRISED Brody!
The kids were such great listeners for this funny story with a great lesson!
It was called The Big Cheese.
Another great Friday reader to end our crazy week of adventures!
This week will be hard to beat...
We will SEE what we are up to next week...
