CAMP LEARN-a-LOT

Let's take a peek into our SENSEsational week!

We kicked off Camp Learn-a-Lot by working on our numbers.

Our newspaper numbers turned into a work of art.
These kids weren't just sitting around at recess time...

They were putting on shows!
They also had fun playing hide-n-seek

And of course they were busy building

and using their imaginations.

They even found some letters outside.

 Here is the letter O!

Here is the letter Y!
We were on a roll for more fun...

This week we used the pattern blocks to create camp sites.

Some of the campsites got pretty  fancy!

That stack of  orange squares is actually a stack of extra pillows!
Now that's what I call "glamping"! :)
We even made some wooden cabins.

To get us ready for Camping Day we made sure we were ready to face  anything... including BEARS!

So we went on a  bear hunt!

The mama bears had capital letters on them.

SO we had to find the baby bears which had lowercase letters on them.

We weren't scared!

We decided to make our own bear hunt obstacle courses.

These kids were up for the challenge.

They made quite the obstacle courses.
One student even tried make a slide.

She was SO excited when she figured it out!
I'm sure these bears had a great time!

We also practiced using marshmallows to get ready for Camping Day.

We didn't roast them... we painted our names with the marshmallows.
We set to work using our listening ears to help us get ready for our camping adventures.

The  challenge was to just sit and listen.

The kids had to draw what they heard.

It was a beautiful day to just relax

and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Mrs. Helmkamp even came to help us.  The kids had to listen to the sounds and figure out what picture it matched.

We were finally all set for CAMPING DAY!

We started off the morning with a beautiful hike.

The kids had a great time making a S'MORES graph.

The kids had to roll the dice
to figure which part of the S'more to color on the graph.

Mrs. McBroom played a fun matching tent game.
The kids had to close their eyes and figure out which tent was missing.

A shark showed up in our classroom to help us with Camping Day.

The kids enjoyed reading by the shark
and were careful not to get eaten  by it!

A ladybug also showed up for Camping Day!
These Happy Campers definitely love to read!

Our adventures continued into the afternoon...

We had some special "camp counselors" help with our camp sites.

Pastor Rouland showed up to help us use our sense of hearing.
He read to the kids a great story about Froggy going to camp.
Mrs. Steinbacher showed up to help us use our sense of sight!

She took the kids on an "I SPY" hike.

They found  a rock

a feather

a letter C

and some special sticks

that looked like a cross!

They even found something that wasn't on their list...

A caterpillar!
It was a great hiking adventure.
They also used their sense of sight to go fishing.

The sense of touch kicked in as the kids created camping collages.
Mr. Debrick popped by

to help us with our sense of taste
and smell.

The kids made some delicious S'mores!

It was such a great day!

Filled with so many wonderful memories that reminded me of our memory verse this week...

 I will bless you.
Genesis 12:2
