SENSEsational Week

We were racing our way through our short week.

But it was a SENSEsational week!

The kids enjoy  their morning "SMARTstart"

where they get some free time to build and create.

The things they come up with

continue to amaze me!

They are the first class to turn SNAP-O's into a race track!

They also like measuring with them!

You never know what they will come up with next!

We kicked off the week by playing a senses game.

The kids had to pick up a card with tweezers.

Then they had to figure out which sense would work best for the picture.

Then they laid the picture underneath the right sense.

Tuesday was our first ZERO HERO day! Every time we reach a day ending in a zero we will get to wear some special capes.

We were using our SUPER sense of sight as we played this rhyming game.

Mrs. Collins called out a word and the kids had to find the word that rhymed with it.

The kids LOVED it! You can take the paper and go on an outdoor scavenger hunt.

We also worked hard looking for "S's" in magazines

and in our classroom.

The kids did a great job looking everywhere in our classroom!

How many S's can they find around your house?

Our sense of touch was working hard too this week!

Some kids were a little nervous about finger painting

but once they started

they didn't want to stop!

Some kids had very specific methods to their finger painting.

They LOVED the way it felt on their hands.

These masterpieces will turn into our class alphabet book!

It was another BEAUTIFUL week to enjoy God's creation

and use all of our senses outside!

Except of course the sense of taste!

Wednesday we worked hard using the sense of hearing.  We started off the day with Mrs. Coad's music class.  She taught us the names of different notes.

We also used our sense of hearing

as we went outside to play our own version of "musical chairs".

When the music stopped the kids had to find a hula hoop to stand in.
Each hula hoop had a letter in it.

The kids had to call out the letter they were standing in.

Sounds like fun! :)

We also had fun with our sense of taste.

We did a little taste testing.
We tasted things that were salty, spicy

sweet

and sour.

Some kids didn't care for the sour taste!

Some kids didn't care for the spicy sausage.

All the kids LOVED the sweet candy!
After tasting everything they had to fill out a graph, showing what they liked and didn't like.

It was a YUMMY experiment!
The kids also had fun looking at food boxes.

They looked for letters on the food boxes and practiced writing them.

Our sense of taste inspired us to make food out of pattern blocks!

This is a kitty shaped pancake.

This is a yummy cake!
We made it through a SENSEsational week.
I never get "tired" of hearing their laughter
and seeing their smiles!
I wonder what amazing things God has in store for us next week!
