What were we up to this week???
We kicked off our Monday with Mrs. Jennings!
After talking about how to keep our teeth healthy,
we played a game of teeth switch!
One alphabet tooth fell out and we used it to make a new word.
The kids also LOVED playing this tooth fairy game!
The first person was the banker and gave the tooth fairy some money to deliver.
The tooth fairy delivered the money to the "sleeping" child and took their teeth.
The WORD WIZARD took the teeth and turned it into a word!
They had to write down the word they made.
In the afternoon, we were busy spinning ways to keep our teeth clean.
Then we turned our spins into a graph.
We also finished up using our 100 day items.
The kids enjoyed getting a chance to discover which 100 bag was the heaviest
and which was the lightest.
We were back Tuesday to enjoy some more sunny weather.
We also enjoyed being tooth fairies again!
This time the tooth fairy was supposed to deliver to 10 kids' pillows.
The assistant tooth fairy had to finish the job, making sure it also equaled 10.
This helped us practice different ways to get to 10.
The kids also enjoyed putting together these mixed up teeth to make a sentence.
The even got to use tooth brushes as pointers as they read their finished sentence.
It was so nice outside, Mrs. Drury took the kids outside for a toothbrush game.
First the kids grabbed a tooth that had a picture on it out of the bucket.
Next they had to find the right vowel toothbrush that matched the middle sound of the picture.
This was a tricky game, but the kids did a great job listening for middle sounds.
In the afternoon the kids couldn't believe that they got to paint with toothbrushes!
Don't worry we will not be using these toothbrushes on our teeth!
Wednesday was a busy morning for us as we headed first thing to music!
We hadn't been to music class in three weeks!
After music class we headed to chapel where Mrs. Steinbacher talked about the season of Lent coming up. She helped us celebrate using alleluia before we put it "away" next week.
After chapel we read another folktale. This time it was the Gingerbread Boy and the Gingerbread Man. Throughout the week read several different versions and loved comparing them.
At our reading stations these little characters helped us spin some vowels.
Once we spun a vowel, we got to put a pretend "candy" on a picture that had that vowel in the middle of it.
Once they used up all of their "candies", they started over.
Mrs Donner was back, and she brought a special robot with her.
The kids had to help BEE-BOT deliver the sight word gingerbread man to his matching house.
AND... of course we had to make our very own gingerbread men!
The kids each rolled out their own dough,
and used a cookie cutter to create their own gingerbread man.
We couldn't wait to eat these little guys!
While we waited for the cookies to bake, we read another gingerbread story. This one was about the Gingerbread Kid. He ran away from the principal!
The kids also practiced making their own gingerbread story.
The fox came to help us practice writing our numbers.
Another activity we worked on was making it "rain" on our memory verse.
This reminded us of the storm that Jesus stopped. We did get little messy with this activity!
Then it was time to get our cookies out for snack.
When we checked, the cookies were gone! We did get this clue...
I’ve run away, and taken my friends too.
To find me, you must follow the clues.
You’ll need to look up and under things too.
Tomorrow I’ll be back to have some fun with you…
We had a very special Wednesday reader instead of a Friday reader this week.
Veda's mom and dad came to read Pigeon Doesn't Want to Go to School.
The kids LOVED this book and had lots of questions to ask when Veda's mom was done!
It was a great way to end our busy day.
Thursday we were ready to go UNDERCOVER. We reread our clue that was left on our cookie tray.
We also read this book hoping it would give us some ideas on how to catch our cookies.
We looked on our cookie tray and found a clue that wasn't there before!
1. Try to keep up because our game has begun.
Are you sure you are ready for clue number one?
I am headed to a building that has lots of sun.
It's filled with unbelievable kids that are little and fun.
We figured out it was the SUNSHINE Center, so we called Mrs. Oswald who teaches preschool down in the Sunshine Center.
The kids had to think really hard about Mrs. Oswald's clue...
2. This clue might be hard; it might be unclear.
This fun lady teaches preschool here!
Her last name starts with the letter R.
Her classroom is not very far.
They were excited to figure out that it was Mrs. Rouland!
We got on our undercover gear and headed out...
Mrs. Rouland had clue #3!
Her clue told us to find the window of Mrs. Meckes, who teaches 4th grade.
We headed outside to find her window.
We found her window had clue #4!
It led us to grade #2!
Mrs. Ford's clue was clue #5. It said...
5. He likes baseball and has shoes galore.
To find your next clue, knock upon his door.
We remembered that Mr. Marolf has LOTS of fun shoes, so we knocked on his door.
He did see the gingerbread man, he left Mr. Marolf a clue!
6. Go to the man who wears a Chief’s hat.
He likes basketballs, Umpires, footballs, and bats.
Of course that had to be Mr. Debrick!
Mr. Debrick was busy, but Mrs. Holtz seem to have found a clue for us. Do you see it?
Her clue led us to one of the first grade teacher's classroom.
We decided to sneak outside to get a jump on him!
The clue was hanging right be Mrs. Kuhlmann's classroom!
8. I was hungry until I went to this place.
I got food in my tummy and smile on my face.
We headed to see the cooks!
The cooks had clue #9,
but they hadn't seen the gingerbread man!
The clue told us to take a break and have some fun under the sun.

While we were out there, we found clue #10!
10. Go to the place where two pastors are.
Go downstairs not up. It isn’t very far.
Mrs. Adams met us in the church basement...
She had quite the story to tell!
She had a very tricky clue to figure out...
but we got it!
11. He has lots of keys that do not unlock doors.
Because he plays the piano and so much more!
Can you guess who it is?
The clue led us to Mr. Thoelke, who is the music director at our church and school.
He had another clue for us.
This one told us to look for a picture of the gingerbread man's uncle.
We were a little confused by this, but we did find him!
He was hiding on Pastor Fieberkorn's window!
His clue was a hard one to figure out...
The next clue is up the stairs.
But only your teacher can go up there.
We weren't sure where to look for stairs???
We found some stairs that led us to the junior high building!
Uh-Oh! You missed me, but you must understand…
You’ll never catch me! Cuz, I’m the Gingerbread man!
We were about to give up after reading that clue, so we headed towards our classroom when...
We found clue #15!
This game has been undeniably fun! But I have to go now. I have to run!
So go back to your room and you will see a special surprise just from me!
We thought for sure we would find him. Instead he left us a book called Gingerbread Baby.
We figure it out the book had to be a clue. He was trying to tell us to make him a gingerbread house!
So in the afternoon, we worked together to make a house for him.
We had to read the directions
and follow the directions to make it just right.
Each group also made different traps throughout the classroom.
Measuring different sized gingerbread characters was also on our list to get done.
After we were done with all of our work...
We headed outside to see if our traps would work!
When we came back inside we were surprised to find...
He had left us a picture and a note...
You’re upset you couldn’t find me today?
Well, I have something to give you. I have something to say:
I’ve enjoyed our game and you’ve been so sweet!
So I left you a little something to eat. So don’t you worry and don’t you cry
Because Jesus loves you and so do I!
The kids LOVED mixing the icing to decorate their cookies!
They also LOVED eating their fancy cookies!
We loved our adventures with the gingerbread man!
We might not have caught the gingerbread man, but we sure had a lot of fun!
Friday we headed to gym with Mrs. Jennings.
The kids enjoyed playing pirate tag!
The kids had to try to steal the treasure.
The pirates had to try to tag them!
Back in the classroom the kids were practicing their math with our giant gingerbread house.
The baker hid some of the cookies inside the house.
We had to figure out how many were hiding by looking to see how many were left out of the house.
After reading another GREAT gingerbread story by Jan Brett, we did some more gingerbread reading stations.
The first station was finding the right house that each gingerbread man lived in.
They had to look at the different "word families" to figure it out.
They also went in the hallway and looked for the cvc gingerbread men.
They had to write down the word they found hiding on the gingerbread man.
We built LOTS of amazing adventures this week!
Watch out.... More adventures are headed our way!
