Sunny Days Bringing Lots of Smiles and Memories

Bring on the sunshine!

We kicked off our week with Mrs. Jennings...

The kids had a blast finishing up the badminton and pickle ball unit.

It might have been sunny outside...

but inside we were working on rain as we put together some umbrellas.

Then we mixed them up to see what new words we could make.

The kids also went on a raindrop hunt.

It was also "raining" math problems in our classroom!

The kids practiced subtracting the raindrops that fell from the cloud.
One person was the cloud that made the raindrops fall.
Their partner had to guess how many drops were left in the cloud.

Mrs. Blackford took the kids outside to make it rain on their papers!

We decided to celebrate St. Patrick's Day a little early... It was GREEN DAY in our classroom on Tuesday!

First we read the classic story of Green Eggs and Ham.

I brought my giant plate for our math lesson.

We practiced adding and subtracting green eggs!

However many eggs landed on the floor,

that's how many we had to subtract.

The kids also enjoyed playing a rhyming gold game.

They even went searching for pots of gold!

Outside Mrs. Drury had the kids picking out a green card.

Once they read the word,

they had to find the hat that it belonged to.

It had to be in the correct word family to be a match.

We were also busy helping the leprechaun match his real

and nonsense word hats.

Of course on Green Day we had to make the color green!

The kids discovered if they took a little yellow and a little blue...

they got green!

In the afternoon we enjoyed another great Dr. Seuss story...

The kids LOVED playing with OOBLECK!

They couldn't believe how it felt!

You can make it at home with cornstarch and water!

Wednesday we headed to music class with Mrs. Crumrine.

She let the kids act out a story using musical instruments.
This colorful Dr. Seuss book had us talking about colors and rainbows.

Mrs. Donner was back to help us with a colorful experiment!

The kids were amazed at how they could make the colors dance.

They used a little milk, dish soap, and food coloring.

The kids LOVED this experiment!

In this game the kids dropped a gold coin.
Whatever word the coin landed on...
the kids had to write the word down.
Then they had to erase the vowel "i" and put in an "a" to see if it made a word.

The kids took this paper home if you want to play it too!

The kids also went on a little journey in the hallway.

They were searching for the other part of their rainbow.

They had to find the cvc word that matched their picture.

In the afternoon the kids were subtracting on the rainbow.

First they put some raindrops under the rainbow.

Some kids made some very interesting raindrops.
Then they took some of the raindrops and tried to balance them on the rainbow.

Then the kids had to create a number sentence.

The kids also enjoyed adding dominoes.

Once they added the domino, they stacked the domino up.

Before we rotated stations, the kids knocked their stack down!

Of course we had to make our own rainbows!

The kids were only given the primary colors...

TADA!  A rainbow!
Finally the special day arrived... GRANDPARENT/SPECIAL FRIENDS DAY!

We kicked things off with a little singing.

This also included a little hugging!

Then it was time for a few kindergarten adventures.

Of course there had to be time for getting messy!

We LOVED having a our special friends and grandparents hang out with us!

It was a day filled with LOTS of smiles and memories.

Come back anytime!

What a beautiful week!

Enjoy your break!
