We put on our thinking caps this week...
SO many adventures to share!
Mrs. Jennings was our first stop!
She is teaching the kids how to play ultimate frisbee.
But first they had to practice throwing a frisbee.
They are doing great so far!
we went on a cloud hunt.
These clouds had our heart words hiding on them.
Some of the words were pretty tricky to find!
The kids also enjoyed playing this fun sight word game.
Once they read a "cloud", they got to pick a special disk to add onto their team's cloud.
When they were all done, they were so excited to share the. cloud they had made together.
The kids LOVED writing words in the "cloud dough"!
Mrs. Drury read them a word, and they had to practice spelling it.
We discovered it worked really well to use our fingers instead of a paint brush!

In the afternoon we were busy feeding the cloud some raindrops.
After choosing a number, the kids had to practice writing that number.
Then they had to feed the cloud that many raindrops!
First the kids used shaving cream and painted one side of the paper.
Next they gave their cloud a little back rub.
Ta da! The kids then told us what their cloud looked like!
It was a beautiful day to enjoy the clouds.
For math we made some noise as we practiced adding sounds together.
The duo had to decide how many sounds each of them would play in order to get to the "magic" number.
We also played "no noise bingo"!
The kids had to silently play the game!
If you were the winner, you played the rain stick!
The sound of POP-ITS filled the room for another fun reading station.
I gave the kids a hidden word and they popped out the sounds before writing it.
The kids even had to build together without talking! It was quite the challenge.
Wednesday... well let's just say it was a little WACKY!
The kids were very excited to start off their Wacky Wednesday with this tricky tall tower.
Mrs Crumrine got a little wacky with her tiny crown AND she started off teaching from the back of the room!
She has also started teaching the kids different kinds of notes.
We headed outside for a wacky reading activity.
Each kid got a chance to pick out a word for their friend.
They hid a real word and. wacky word at the end of each tunnel.
Next, they crawled through one of the tunnels to see which word they got.
Then they had to put the word in the real or WACKY pile!
In the classroom the kids were looking for some WACKY words.
These words were all mixed. up!
They had to figure out which word it was supposed to be from their list of real words.
The kids also enjoyed this wacky game with flying disks !
I sent each kiddo in my group a letter that flew to them on a disk.
After reading the letter on their disk,
they had to try to rearrange the letters to make a word.
They did a great job of working together.
Hip hip hurray! It's Cardinal's Day! It was also a great day to talk about wind!
We headed outside and practiced catching wind!
The kids absolutely LOVED catching wind!
We discovered we caught a lot more wind when we ran
than when we walked.
The kids were begging me to bring their wind catchers home!
During math we used a small fan to be the wind that separated our clouds into two groups.
Once we put them into two groups, we created a number bond to show our "windy" story.
The "wind" also blew in some words.
The kids read the word that was blown to them.
Next they had to put all the words together to create a sentence.
This miniature frisbee game helped the kids create a number bond.
They started off with 5 disks.
However many they made, went in one circle and however many they missed went in another circle.
The kids were begging to play this game more!
They also were busy blowing their artwork.
Such amazing masterpieces from wind!
They even did an experiment with their own wind.
First they had to predict what they would be able to blow.
Then they had to test it out.
They were surprised at how strong their wind was!
A special visitor named Carol Martin stopped by on Friday.
She taught us all about the PATH prayer:
PRAISE
APOLOGIZE
THANKS
HELP
Then the kids got to create their own PATH PRAYER.
The kids went searching for these alphabet socks
and had to find the hidden word.
They also went to the "sock store" to look for words
After reading their sentence,
each partner had to find a sock
that matched a word from their sentence.
Once they found the right sock,
they lined them up to create the sentence.
SOCK it to reading! We got this!
The kids were VERY excited to have a Friday reader surprise us in the morning!
Lucas' dad did a FANTASTIC job of reading Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site to the kids.
The kids had so many questions. I think he could have stayed all day!
It was a great way to end our morning!
In the afternoon the sock store was open for business!
This time we were adding the socks
and creating a number bond to match.
They just might be able to help you do your laundry!
The kids then got to hide a few "wockets" under the pocket.
Once they discovered how many wockets they got,
they had to give some of the wockets to their partner and save some for themselves to create a number bond.
Then the put the wockets together to create a masterpiece!
It was.a week stacked with adventures!
We will see what we have lined up for next week!
