We were rock'in Week of the Young Child
with Music Monday.
Mrs. Thoelke and the junior high band treated us to a mini concert!
They even played Baby Shark for us!
We had some fun with musical instruments in our classroom too!
I called out a word. If they had the word, the kids had to shake their instrument.
We were busy playing "musical chairs" outside!
The kids walked around the words on the sidewalk.
When the music stopped,
they had to figure out what popcorn word they landed on!
The kids LOVED playing this little drummer game.
One friend rolled the dice and added them up.
Another friend added the beats up on the table.
As the kids listened to the story, they illustrated what they heard.
They really enjoyed listening to the music and the different characters the music portrayed.
More musical adventures took place with the bells.
The kids picked out the number on the bells and what order they were played in,
Another friend then got to play the song that they "wrote".
The kids LOVED hearing the songs they wrote!
Measuring instruments was another activity the kids enjoyed.
It would be hard for anything to measure up to this day...
but the week was just getting started!
Tuesday started off with some very fun visitors joining us for chapel.
Student council led another great chapel.
They went on a special Easter egg hunt and reminded us to be kind to others.
We also got to celebrate two special Baptismal birthdays.
Tasty Tuesday did not disappoint!
The kids were busy cooking up some popcorn words.
They also were busy making some ice cream
as they spelled words
and sorted word families.
The kids also enjoyed practicing writing cookie letters in the clay.
Who knew writing could be so yummy!
Despite the rain, we headed outside to meet the KONA ICE truck!
The kids each picked out their own flavor of ice!
It was SO yummy!
Miss Julia joined us for Tasty Tuesday.
And she brought her friend Miss Betty!
They taught us all about capacity.
They even needed help from the audience to find the capacity of some Easter baskets.
The kids tossed the eggs into the baskets to see how much they held.
We can't wait for this crazy duo to return soon!
Then the kids set to work figuring out the capacity of the baskets all by themselves.
How many eggs do your baskets hold?
Tasty Tuesday also helped us with our adding.
The kids took turns making sandwiches.
They either added to their sandwich or subtracted from it.
Then the "customers" had to write down the number sentence that matched these yummy sandwiches.
Tasty Tuesday was SO yummy!
Workout Wednesday brought a special visitor to gym class.
Mr. Debrick came to help us with some shooting!
He taught us how to hold the ball correctly when we are shooting.
The kids had fun cheering for each other!
They also worked on rebounding.
We have quite the basketball players in this group!
Playing a little basketball game helped us spell our popcorn words.
Every time they shouted out a letter they dribbled the ball. Then they said the word as they passed it to their partner.
We also headed over to the church basement for a fun presentation from the ZOO!
They couldn't bring real animals, but they brought some animal skins
and other fun activities!
They even got to do a skunk dance!
It was a very exciting visit from the zoo!
The kids also enjoyed acting out their Bible story.
They waved their palm branches
and yelled HOSANNA!
It was quite the parade!
Working out with friends, is the best way to work out!
Artsy Thursday was a very exciting day!
We made wooden letters and then "bedazzled" them!
The kids also enjoyed painting their new set of popcorn words.
Jojo the Clown also came for a visit!
The kids were amazed at her magic tricks!
She even had a special assistant! :)
This inspired us to make our own special murals.
The kids made beach scenes, gardens, or even farm scenes.
Mr. Debrick was back to help us with our new Bible verse...
Serve one another in love.
Each child had their foot painted.
Some friends have REALLY ticklish toes!
Then the kids helped clean each other's feet.
It wasn't their favorite thing to do,
But they did a really good job of working hard to get those toes clean!
I'm sure they will not forget this Bible verse! :)
Family Friday brought quite the characters to our classroom!
Can you guess who these kids are?
How about this one?
We were rollin' with our family as they helped us play this fun word game.
We also had fun hiding people in these houses.
The kids also set to work making houses for these word people.
It was interesting to see what houses they came up with.
Look at all the words hiding in this house!
These special word people needed a to find their matching family member.
It had to be a rhyming word to be a match.
We took a quick break to go see Mr. Debrick to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
In my family we have a tradition to throw ping pong balls at the birthday boy (or girl)!
This 60 year old took it all with a smile!
Good thing I gave him a shield! :)
The kids couldn't believe how much fun stuff he already had!
WHEW! It was quite the week! Full of smiles and memories.
Not sure how we are going to top that one!
