EGGtra Special Week!

 He is risen indeed!  ALLELUIA!

We started our week off right, with Mrs. Lohman leading our Easter celebration!

The kids played their instruments and sang praises!

They had a GREAT time celebrating JESUS IS ALIVE!

Then they all  lined up to go find a special egg...

They found an egg with a tiny cross inside.

We found some eggs in our classroom too.
The eggs had words on them.
We spun the eggs to make new words.

We kept track of how many words we could make.

Another batch of eggs had pictures hiding in them.

The kids picked up an egg

and colored the word that matched their picture.

The next game had the kids making a pattern with words.

Then they "bowled" bean bags to the words.

Whichever word they landed closest to, one friend had to write the word down.

Next up was balancing eggs.

The kids challenged each other to find the heaviest egg.

The kids also enjoyed making a ramp for their eggs.

It had to roll down the tube and land on the teen number.

It was a little tricky to get the egg to roll straight onto the number.

Some of them even figured out how to put up a roadblock to stop the egg!

The best part of the day was going on an egg hunt!

The kids found some very special eggs.

The even found a cross hiding in the tomb!

Jesus is alive!

One of our favorite parts of the week was telling the Easter story using the parachute!

The rock was rolled away...
HURRAH for Easter day!

We even went inside the tomb.

And pretended to be Peter and John

by running in the tomb

and telling everyone that Jesus is alive!

He is risen indeed!

Alleluia!

AMEN!

We were also busy talking about NEW LIFE and butterflies this week.

SO we used "loose parts" to create some symmetrical butterflies.

We also worked with some mixed up caterpillars.

We had to put them back together to make a sentence.

The kids also enjoyed making a sight word caterpillar.

Some of the words were new and challenging, but they worked together to figure them out.

The kids also enjoyed learning about birds this week.

We were determined to feed the birds their bugs.

We used these bird beaks (a.k.a tongs) to pick up bugs

and put them in the right jars.

They got very excited when the bug belonged in their jar!

Mrs. Helmkamp was back with another fun project to get us ready for Earth day.

We used recycled materials

to make these marble mazes.

It was a challenge to make sure the marble hit everything in the right spots.

It was so fun to watch their excitement when it worked!

We had more bird adventures in the afternoon.

We experimented with different sizes of beaks
to see which would pick up the "worms", the bugs,
and the sticks the best.
It took a lot of concentration not to drop anything.

Some kids are quite the nest builders.

The kid also enjoyed making their own birds out of paper.

Each design was a  little different.
Then the took their birds outside...

to see if they would fly!

We were also busy working with teen numbers and counting this week.

These boys wanted to see how high they could stack the big cubes.
To help us celebrate Earth day we read this book about Michael Recycle.

Then we got to work with our own GREAT TRASH BASH right in our classroom.

There was junk everywhere that we had to clean up and practice recycling.

We even found an old t-shirt and plastic bags that we had to figure out how to reuse them!

The kids were also ready to use the giant POP-ITS

to spell words and let them fly!

Reading is so fun!

Mrs. Collins helped the kids "recycle"
 and spell words.

The recycling truck delivered a word to spell.  Beep beep!

Then the kids took the "milk cartons" and spelled out the words.

The last step was putting the word in their recycling can.
After watching this video about garbage,
we worked hard to turn junk into a treasure!

What great imaginations these kids have!

Someone's junk truly is someone else's treasure!
What an exciting week!
We will see how next week stacks up!
