There was no time for laying down this week!
We were working with different nursery rhymes this week.
we set to work building a wall for Humpty Dumpty.
We carefully put together a wall that would keep Humpty Dumpty from falling.
Our wall was also special because it was made up of letters.
The kids had to keep track of what letters they used.
Some built tall towers and buildings.
Humpty Dumpty didn't have a GREAT fall but we sure had a great time!
Next up was the muffin man!
The kindergartners had to toss their "muffin" to the right number on the muffin tin.
I told them to keep their feet behind the line to toss...
Some kids came up with some very interesting strategies to toss! "I have my feet behind the line!" :)
This was a challenging game, but they LOVED it!
Jack be nimble... Jack be quick...
Jack jump over the letter Bb!
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep!
We had to figure out how many were missing and right it down.
Then we had put that many sheep (cotton balls) back in their pens (ten frames).
A SURPRISE fire drill kept us moving on Tuesday! The kids were a little nervous at first to hear the loud siren, but they remained calm and followed me. They did a great job!
We then had our own teapot adventure.
The kids each had a turn to fill up a container with a teacup.
They had to guess how many teacups would fit into their container.
They kept pouring until it overflowed!
Some kids dared to even pour in an extra cup!
They LOVED this game!
In gym we played an exciting game of "Roll Away Pumpkin"!
The farmers were chasing after their run away pumpkins.
If they got tagged by the magic rake (a.k.a pool noodle)
They had to go back to the barn.
If a gush of wind came along, they would get blown back out to the barn.
Some even found a tricky place to hide!
AHHH! Rollaway pumpkins!
More pumpkin fun back in the classroom.
The kids were working hard to hear beginning sounds in words.
We even started putting letters together to make words!
They did a GREAT job!
Making letters out of wooden sticks and fun fall loose parts
was also something the kids enjoyed.
Look who met us at chapel this week!
Chapel this week was VERY special for another reason too!
Mrs. Thoelke and her band students led our chapel.
They used their instruments to tell us the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho.
They marched around six times.
On the 7th day
only the trumpet could blow...
and the walls came tumbling down. What an AMAZING story!
Back in the classroom we were working on the letter Gg, which is a very tricky one to write.
SO we practiced by putting some special glue on the Gg's.
Then we squeezed a little glitter
ok... A LOT of glitter on top. No worries we laminated these masterpieces before we sent them home. Please use these has a way to help your child remember the letter Gg as well as how to write it.
The nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle brought some exciting adventures!
The kids did a great job of matching the capital letters on the dishes with the lowercase letters on the spoons.
Mrs. Helmkamp also came to help join us.
She helped each kid make a catapult.
They practiced with their catapults.
They absolutely LOVED this activity!
Then in the afternoon they used their catapults to help the cow jump over the moon!
It was little trickier than they thought it would be.
They also used some catapults to practice jumping over the moons with letters.
They had to say the name of the letter and the sound it makes before jumping.
The kids each took their catapult home with them
so you can play this game at home too!
Have fun! WEEE!
What time is it... GAME TIME!
We finished our week off with GAME DAY!
The kids had so much fun playing each others' games.
We had a variety of exciting games to play!
And we couldn't have Game Day without TWISTER!
These kids are quite the competitors!
Game Day was SO great...
Let's see what we have lined up for next week!
