We were gearing up for another GREAT week!
We kicked off the week talking about quilts.
We had a lot of fun talking about quilts and doing activities with quilts!
We played a little game called number "I Spy" with my quilt.
They had to describe where the number was hiding on the quilt...
Then the rest of the group had to write down which number they were thinking of .
The kids also had a chance to mix colors
to paint their own paint square
They also used pattern blocks to make quilt squares.
We also read this really great book that my mom actually gave me when I first started teaching. It is a great reminder that when we are scared, God is with us always. I LOVE this book!
SNOW??? In April!!!
While it was snowing...
we were busy planting seeds to get ready for Earth Day!
The kids all wrote their names on a stick.
Their team planted their seed that was shaped like an earth.
Then they each watered their plant.
We will see what surprises pop up!
More fun and excitement was headed our way...
We went outside on the nature playground.
The kids were busy trying to "plant" trees.
They also used branches to have their own parade.
They waved the branches as they sang, "HOSANNA!"
They also had a great time designing flowers
and flower gardens.
The kids also used pattern blocks to make flower designs.
This boy even added some rain and sun to his picture!
It was so interesting to see how everyone had different ideas and creations.
To celebrate Earth Day we used rocks to help us practice our alphabet.
The children had to work together
to put the alphabet in the correct order.
After getting in order
they were challenged to work together to create a word.
Mrs. Helmkamp also stopped by with some reusable materials.
The kids were challenged to create a marble run!
They LOVED this activity.
They made tunnels, ramps, etc. to get their marble to get to the bottom of the cardboard.
They worked so hard
and were SO excited when it worked!
They also had a great time using clay to create something God created.
Look carefully at this clay creation and you will see a person with an apple and a cute little worm!
We were stacked up for another fantastic Friday!
When the kids arrived the room was a complete mess with junk everywhere!
They had to work hard to get the classroom cleaned up.
We talked about what things we could recycle, reduce, and ways to reuse items. THEY DID GREAT!
A recycle truck delivered some words for the kids to read.
If they got it right, they put it in their garbage can (which I found at Dollar Tree in case your child asks for one!).
If they got a card that said "litter" on it, they lost their turn!
They had so much fun playing this game!
They kids also enjoyed using nature "loose parts"
to make some amazing creations!
They each worked so hard to create a unique picture.
One little boy was so proud to show me what he had made...
It is HARRY POTTER!
This little created Jesus dying on the cross!
This is a camping picture.
Our creative fun wasn't quite done...
The kids took some junk and reused it to make some masterpieces!
This is a house.
Here is a mountain.
Here is a Barbie House.
I can't wait to see where our imagination takes us next week.
