GO TEAM! GO!

This week was jammed packed with adventures!
Our new illustrator of the month is Peter H. Reynolds.  We read one of his books called Sky Color.

Check out his website to out more about him...https://www.peterhreynolds.com/
Then the kids set to work.

They worked together to make their own murals.

They had to work as a team to decide what their mural would show.

Then they decided who would paint what part of the mural.

It was amazing to watch their creative minds working together

to form MASTERPIECES!
We were also celebrating new life in Christ this week.

so we started off the week by talking about butterflies.

We discovered butterflies are symmetrical.

The kids set to work creating their own butterflies.

They even painted some symmetrical butterflies.

First the kids had to paint one side of the butterfly.

Then they gave the butterfly a little "back rub".
The kids couldn't wait to see the results...

A BEAUTIFUL butterfly!
We also worked on the stages of the butterfly.

Sight word swat was a fun game the kids loved playing.

Mrs. Collins handed the kids some sight word bugs.

When she called out a sight word

the kids swatted the bug if they had that sight word.

Mrs. Lohman did an amazing job of leading our Easter celebration!

She led the kids on an Easter parade.

The kids danced

and sang praises!

HE IS RISEN INDEED...
ALLELUIA!

Then we sang... GO! GO! GO!

Tell the good news is just what we did!

We sang and cheered for Jesus.

It was such a great celebration!

Our celebration of new life continued with our study of eggs and birds.

We worked on some sight word egg stacking.
After rolling the dice, the kids had to stack that many eggs.

The kids also worked on a mystery egg game.
They had to open an egg and write down the letter they found hiding in it.

Balancing eggs was another challenge the kids had.

We did more than balancing..

The kids pretended to be birds!

They tested out different kinds of "beaks".
Which one would be the best beak to pick up worms...

and seeds

and bugs?

The kids had so much fun to testing out the "beaks".
They also LOVED reading this funny book called The Perfect Nest. They even clapped when the story was over!
After reading the story the kids worked together to make their own perfect nest.

They discovered it wasn't quite as easy as they thought.

A good solid base was a good place to start.
Each group had a different idea of how to build the perfect nest.

We also decided to test out our flying skills.

The kids designed their own bird.

It was interesting to see the different design strategies.

Then it was time to test out our birdies.

We went outside to see if the birds would fly!

It was a beautiful day for a flight!
We also talked about SPHERES.
The kids opened up a sphere
to find a mixed up sentence inside.
They did a GREAT job of figuring out the sentence

and writing it down.
They also worked with ping pong spheres.

One person closed their eyes

while the other hid ping pong spheres in their egg carton.

When they opened their eyes, they had to shake the ping pong spheres to mix them up.

When they put the spheres together in the correct order, it made a word.
They also played a game with paper spheres

Before tossing the sphere, they had to read the word on it.
They had to toss the word into a bucket.

It was so great to see them cheering for their friends!

YAY!  Who knew playing with paper spheres could be so fun!

Spheres also helped us with our sight words.

The kids had to choose a sight word.
Then they spelled the word as they dribbled.

Once they spelled it, they passed the ball as they said the sight word.

Our sphere fun continued with Mrs. Helmkamp.

She brought a new tool called a SPHEREO.

The kids had SO much fun getting the sphereo to move!

The kid also had a challenge of making a maze for their sphere to travel through.

We used pom poms to create different designs

And cotton spheres (a.k. cotton balls) to create master pieces.

Bowling with spheres was also exciting.

The kids challenged each other to aim for certain numbers.

STRIKE!

Our week ended with a day filled with excitement.

It was BASEBALL DAY!

Check out these baseball card poses!

In the classroom we were busing playing a matching memory games.

and a mystery hat game

and a fun sight word game!

HOMERUN!

The kids even worked hard making baseball stadiums!

We ended our day by playing a little baseball outside.

GO TEAM GO!

YAY!  Three cheers for a GREAT week!
More fun adventures headed our way next week!
