We were all set for full week of adventures!
The sun was finally shining outside
but inside we were talking about the arctic and polar bears.
The kids weren't so sure about using ice cubes
to write "P's".
Some thought it was too cold!
Others really enjoyed it!
Our cold fingers were ready to use pencils by the time we were done!
We were also busy matching polar bear sight words
to their icebergs.
Measuring with our "100" items was also on our list of things to get done.
Some items stretched out across the whole table.
We also finished FIT February by taking the Kids Heart Challenge.
One little boy was very excited to share a model of a heart.
He did a GREAT job of explaining to everyone how the heart works.
We got our bodies ready for the Heart Challenge
We were hopping our way through some words.
They had to say the sound of the letter
as they hopped over it.
When they got to the end
they had to hop up and say the word.
They are becoming quite the readers!
Finally it was time for the KIDS HEART CHALLENGE!
The kids had a blast!
They did a fun obstacle course.
They did some fancy long rope jumping.
And even played a game of helicopter!
It was so fun to watch them in action!
Not only were they having a great time exercising,
They did a GREAT job of cheering for each other!
We finished our fun day
by heading outside for a scavenger hunt.
It was too nice of a day to stay inside
so we went outside
to enjoy the sunshine and look for some things.
The kids had a great time checking the things off their lists.
They even found a small flower growing!
We were also busy talking about taking care of our teeth.
So the tooth fairy showed up
and delivered some money under our pillows.
The kids had to take the money to the banker.
The banker counted the money
and wrote down how much each person got.
The kids also enjoyed using the wooden blocks to make their popcorn words!
Mrs. Helmkamp challenged the kids to make hearts out of Legos.
It was tough at first
but it was fun to watch each child
create their own unique heart.
Another fun game we played was the light game.
The kids had to listen for a sound. They had to say if it was at the beginning, middle, or end of the word.
Then they had to lock in their answer by hitting the correct light.
As we prepared for stone soup
we organized the stones first.
Then the kids had to follow a "recipe"
to spell out their popcorn words.
Finally it was time to start making our stone soup!
Of course we started with the stones.
Then we added some yummy vegetables.
A dash of salt.
And a little bit of rice.
It looked so YUMMY when we stirred it up.
While we waited for the soup to cook we played a little veggie game.
The kids each had three vegetables with popcorn words on them.
If they heard one of their popcorn words called
they had to cover it up as quick as they could.
They also had fun with "alphabet soup"!
They scooped up some letters to their friends.
Then they had to try to turn those letters into words.
Finally it was time to try the soup!
The kids were surprised at how much they liked it!
Some even wanted to have it for dinner!
Good until the last bite!
It was a great week!
Another week of adventures is headed our way!
