The smiles were popping up
all over the place this week...
The kids were all lined up to learn.
We were creating more letter fun.
Illustrator Eric Carle inspired us to create these letter masterpieces.
The hot sun couldn't stop us from enjoying the 8th grade rocket launch!
The rockets few up to the sky!
The kids were so amazed!
Despite the heat the kids had a great time!
We can't wait to design our own rockets one day.
We were dancing and singing our way through chapel this week.
Mr. Debrick led chapel this week and taught us the story of the "one thankful leaper".
We also celebrated baptismal birthdays.
On our way back from chapel, we went on a shape search.
It is amazing how many shapes we found!
Even the playground had a lot of shapes hiding on it.
A few monkeys showed up this week too!
The kids were curious about how this new version of "monkeys in a barrel" might work.
They had to use a monkey to pick up a letter.
Some kids even picked up two letters.
Some kids even were able to balance 3 monkeys to pick up letters and words.
Our monkey fun continued with making monkey bread!
They picked out five pieces of biscuit dough.
Next they dropped it into a bag full of cinnamon and sugar.
Then they shook and shook it!
We played some monkey games
while we waited for our bread to cook.
It was well worth the wait. The monkey bread was delicious!
This week we were also working on nursery rhymes.
Jack and Jill went up the hill
to fetch a vowel.
The vowel had to match the word Mrs. Aslin layed out.
The kids did a great job of working together.
Th
AND nobody even broke their crown.
We were also busy matching up the dish that ran away from the spoon.
I was very impressed with how well the children matched up the rhyming words.
Building walls for Humpty Dumpty kept our brains thinking hard.
Some were very worried about how their wall would hold up.
These kids did a great job of putting Humpty together again!
"I'm a Little Teapot" was another fun nursery rhyme that challenged us.
After reading a story about a teapot that took some children on some very fun adventures...
We tested out our pouring skills
and made some predictions
on how much water each container could hold.
The kids weren't sure if the container could hold ALL of the water!
When they made the right prediction,
they were SO excited!
It was such a fun challenge!
Next up was catapulting the cow over the moon!
The kids worked hard trying to get the cow to jump over the correct moon.
Then they set to work designing their own catapults for the cows.
It was quite the challenge!
Each catapult was a little differently designed.
But boy did the cows jump over the moon!
Rub a dub, dub. 3 men in a tub!
Mrs. Helmkamp came to help the kids
design some floatation devices.
Some floated.
Others were very close and needed a little tweaking.
It was so fun watching their brains at work.
They came up with some very creative ideas!
We were all geared up for one more nursery rhyme adventure.
It's raining... It's pouring!
The kids made their favorite rainy day scene.
Then they dropped water it to make it look like it was pouring.
Outside... there wasn't a raindrop in sight.
The kids enjoyed some wonderful fall days in the sun!
Our week ended with another great Friday reader.
She read to us a wonderful story about a grandfather making something out of nothing.
It was a great way to end our week.
It was a great week of friendship
and celebrations.
We will see what pops up next week!
