Apple Adventures

It was another sun shiney week!

We were working hard this week

making patterns
and working with pattern blocks.

We were also busy having lots of APPLE adventures.

 Learning about Joseph

and his coat of many colors also kept us busy!

One apple adventure we had was playing apples games.

This one was a dice game to see who put the most apples on the tree!

This apple game was a matching game.

The kids had to match the apple to the alphabet chart.

They also had to beat the timer!

The sun kept shining...

and fun kept coming!

The kids got ready to read 10 Apples Up on Top by trying to balance dice on their heads!

They also built trees and tried to see how many apples could balance on their trees.

Some kids were able to balance a lot of apples!
It was neat to see
how differently they designed their trees.
They have such great imaginations!

The kids also did a great job of reading this week.

We worked on putting sentences together.

They had to tell something that they liked.
We took the sentences apart and  then practiced putting them back together.

We had a special visit from our 4th grade friends this week!

They helped with a couple of different projects.

First we went on an alphabet hunt outside.

This time we were looking for the shape of the letter.

Some found their letter on the playground equipment.

Others found it hiding in the trees.

Can you guess what letter this is?

We were also finishing up our "All About Me" month

by talking about our favorite parts of our bodies.

The fourth graders helped us take pictures
and print the pictures.

They also helped us write about it too.
It was another great day with our 4th grade friends.

Back in the classroom more apple adventures appeared.

The kids each received an apple and compare it to their friends' apple.

The kids did a great job of noticing all the different things about their apples.

Some apples had bruises.
Some had stems.

Some even had stripes and spots on them.
Next we used our muscles

to core the apples.
The kids were amazed how this tool worked!
It was fun to watch their faces as they noticed the skin coming off.
They couldn't wait for their turn to turn the crank!

When all the skin came off, they were so excited!
They even LOVED eating the skin!

We also did some apple investigating.

They were busy looking for all of the "bad apples".
We did find some bruised ones!

Balancing the apples was also part of our investigating.

It was quite the trick getting two apples to balance perfectly!

Next up was taste testing.

Some were a little hesitant to try some of the apples.

Others didn't like the apples at all!

Most of the kids LOVED the apples

and wanted to eat more

and more!

Then the kids voted for their favorite kind of apple.
Honey crisp was the winner with 9 votes.
Painting with the apples was also a lot of fun.

The kids made quite the masterpieces

stamping with the apples.
They also did a great job of looking at an apple

and painting a realistic picture of it.

We were all line up to finish our week

with our final adventures...

More alphabet fun showed up
as the kids worked together to design an alphabet town.

They had some amazing cities!

Our last apple adventure was tasting our applesauce.

The kids were a little nervous to try it at first.

But most of them LOVED it and wanted more!

Before we finished our day we headed outside

to cheer on the junior high kids.

They were busy walking and running at their Walk-a-thon.

The kids did a GREAT job of cheering them on!

We gave LOTS of high fives

and hugs to encourage them.

Our week was complete with a special Friday reader!
She read us a great story that had the kids laughing and excited to hear more.
We can't wait for more fun in the sun next week!
