SENSE-sational Week!

We weren't just sitting around this week...

We had a SENSE-sational week

using all of our senses
to help with us with some exciting adventures.

First up was our sense of touch.
We used some new tools this week

as we used our hands to build and create.

We also discovered a new math tool... linking cubes.

We worked hard to create some incredible patterns.
Painting different textures also helped us use our  sense of touch.

The kids used different "tools"

to create some very unique artwork.

The kids also enjoyed using a special kind of domino called a "tactomino"

to help them describe different textures.

Of course we couldn't talk about the sense of touch without using our clay.

Once again the kids found ways to create some amazing sculptures with the clay.

We snuck our way right to the sense of smell.

We played a fun smelling game with Mrs. Aslin.
The kids had to guess what smell was in the little jar.

Some of the smells surprised us.

Other smells made us laugh
and smile.
Some were so good we gave them a thumbs up!

Other smells we weren't quite sure about.
We had to really think hard to figure out what they were.

A lot of the smells we definitely did not like!

We gave those smells a thumbs down.

Even Mr. Debrick stopped by to join in on the fun!
There might have been some icky smells ...
But it sure was a fun game.

This week we had chapel with a very special person... Miss Bethany Andrews.

She recently got back from hiking so she talked to us about some beautiful constellations.  A very special one she showed us looked like a cross!

It was a very special chapel, as we said good-bye to Miss Bethany.  She will be leaving Friday to work at Camp Lutherhaven.  Lots of prayers as she begins this new adventure!

It was also a special chapel as we celebrated our first month of baptismal birthdays!

HAPPY BAPTISMAL BIRTHDAY!

The sense of taste had us grinning from ear to ear!

We first looked at different food boxes and tried to find letters and words on the boxes.

The children also used clay to create different foods.
This is a strawberry!

Painting our favorite things to taste sure did make us hungry for lunch.
So we created our own food stores complete with donuts,
sandwiches

and an apple stacked sandwich!
The tasting fun continued in the afternoon.
We did a little taste testing.

Some things were sour.
We tried some salty things.

The spicy sausage was not a favorite!

The sweet candy usually got a thumbs up!

YAY!  For tongues to taste!

Our last day of the week brought our sense of hearing

and sight.
The kids played a tricky game of musical chairs.

In our game, when the music stopped the children had to each find a letter to sit on.

More smiles also popped up this week

as we listened to some new songs

and practiced our dance moves!
Our ears were also working hard as we practiced a nursery rhyme and even acted it out.
Jack be nimble, Jack be quick. Jack jump over the candlestick.

Quick as a fox, Jack jump over this little box.
Hang on... next week is sure to be another SENSE-sational week!
