1st Full Week

Our week was all stacked up for more fun adventures!

We were definitely dressed for success

as we got ready for our A-Z hike.

We were looking for things from A to Z...

Our first stop was to see the cooks!

Miss Mel gave us a tour of the kitchen

and even showed us how the dishwasher worked!
Then we took a picture of her with MILK for the letter M.
Next stop was Mrs. Schmidt our school secretary.

She gave us stickers for the letter S.

Letter D was Mr. Debrick.

He gave us DIRT!

Our nice nurse, Nurse Bonnie, gave us a note.

Mrs. Haun had hugs for the letter H.

But she also gave us some hearts.

Mr. Marolf was excited to show us his MARINERS bobblehead for the letter M.

We stopped by to see lovely Mrs. Lail.

She was so sweet and gave us some lemonade.

Our hike continued outside where we stopped for the letter Z... ZION!

Over at church we found...
Mrs. Adams with APRICOTS for the letter A.

Mrs. Thomason had (name)tags for us.

Pastor Reitz... well he gave us some RINGS to help us read!

In the balcony we found Mr. Thoelke.

He gave us tape!

Mrs. Thoelke stopped to talk to us too!
She showed us a special TROPHY she received when she was in high school.

We headed back to our classroom

where we found more letter fun waiting for us.

We went for a hike in the classroom looking for special letters.

It was quite the adventure!

We found another fun math tool this week...

Pattern blocks!
Already these children have figured out some amazing ways to use pattern blocks!

Such great imaginations!
We also finished up our coconut trees this week

by adding our names.
Learning each other names was also a fun adventure we had this week.

We compared our names to see how many letters we had

and checked to see what letters we had that were the same.

The kindergartners also worked on name puzzles.

They had such a great time trying to figure out their friends' puzzles!

We were very excited to have gym for the first time this week!

The kids loved racing
and playing line tag.

They were even leaping to get to the lines.

They were very careful to stay right on the line!

As we talked about body parts this week
the kids had a great time designing people!
They even added some amazing detail to their people.

They also used wooden sticks

to make houses

and beds for the people.

Our alphabet fun continued

as the children stacked

and worked together

to sort  letters and scrabble tiles.
They also did a great job of starting on our alphabet book.

Each child chose a letter that he or she wanted to paint a picture of for our book.

When it is complete we will have created our very own alphabet book.

The kids also did a great job using wooden sticks to create letters too.

Some made the letters in their name.

Others tried to make the whole alphabet!
Mrs. Helmkamp came in this week and taught us how to use the iPads.

We learned how to listen to a story on the iPads.

Our SUPER reader skills also kicked in
as we practiced READ to SELF.

We learned there are 3 ways to read...
 1. Read the words.
     2. Read the pictures.
  3. Retell the story.

As we talked about the Creation story and how God created animals

we worked hard on making animals graphs.

We then made a graph of the kids in our classroom.
We discovered we have more girls than boys!

The kids were also able to use clay to tell the creation story.

They had to work really hard to mold the clay.
Some kids found a way to make trees, complete with branches and snakes!
Others worked hard on making people!
We just loved learning how special special God's creation is and how He made each one of us special too.
Through clouds

and sunshine
you just can't stop these smiles from exploding in our classroom!
God is love.
