It was quite the week of memory making!
Check out what we were up to...
Monday we kicked off the week celebrating being "GOD'S CREATION".
It was time to let our butterflies go.
At first the butterflies didn't quite want to leave their cage.
They even stuck around for a little bit.
But we loved watching them soar off to new adventures!
The kids were VERY excited to read the last book in the Impatient Caterpillar series!
Then we were busy swatting "b's" in our classroom.
The kids worked hard not to get tricked by other letters.
In the afternoon the kids were busy using loose parts to make symmetrical butterflies.
This butterfly had it's wings closed.
The kids also enjoyed using the boxes to create their own "box cities".
We ended our day with a special visitor!
Calvin's dad stopped by to talk about his job.
He works for the hospital, flying a helicopter to help kids who are hurt or sick.
The kids had a lot of great questions for him and LOVED having him stop by!
What a great way to kick off our week!

Tuesday we got our game faces on...
We celebrated being God's ALL STARS!
Talking with my brother was first on our list of things to do.
My brother Ben is the head basketball coach at Concordia in Nebraska, and his basketball players are our pen pals!
Each kiddo got a chance to talk with him and ask him questions.
They asked some great questions!
The kids had GREAT time talking with Coach Ben, and we can't wait to hear back from his basketball players.
For reading stations, we had a ball!
The kids took turns tossing the "heart word" balls into the basketball bowl.
The kids were also busy shooting some hoops!
Whatever word the ball landed in, their partner had to read it and write it down.
We also had fun being all-star readers.
These mixed up balls needed to be put in order to make a sentence.
In the afternoon the kids enjoyed making ramps to roll the balls down.
Each team had a different idea on how to create their ramp.
The kids also enjoyed doing some number bowling.
All-Star Day was a hit!
Wednesday we were celebrating being God's Masterpieces!
We started off in music class practicing our drumming skills.
Mrs. Crumrine led them around the room to the beat of the drum. We definitely have some dancers in the group!
Our reading stations were filled with LOTS of different fun and messy art project.
We were also busy making sculptures with words.
In the afternoon, it was time to get messy!
We used our old boxes to help us paint some masterpieces!
The kids splattered paint.
And they worked together to make the ping pong balls fly everywhere!
Mrs. Kuhlmann even showed up to join in on the fun.
The kids were very proud of their messiness!
Their laughter and smiles made all of the craziness worth it!
Our day ended with a birthday reader.
The kids could hardly contain their laughter with this hilarious story!
Wow! What a way to end the day!
Such great day full of fun and messy adventures!
Thursday we started off our day with chapel.
Mrs. Aslin lead our chapel.
She talked about things that go up and down.
When she surprised us with the balloon, she reminded us of Jesus' ascension. Mrs. Aslin reminded us that Jesus will come back again someday too!
When the kids came in from recess, a very interesting visitor had arrived!
Miss Julia was back to teach the kids about sharing!
The kids practiced "cutting" food in half.
Sharing is caring!
The zoo came alive during reading stations as the kids used playful monkeys to scoop up words.
No monkey business here! Every word they read, they got to add a monkey to their chain.
Another station the kids were busy building words with bears.
The kids gathered the letter bears and raced to their partner.
The kids teamed up to put the bears together and form words.
In the afternoon, a Masked Reader showed up!
Do you know who it is? The kids figured it out!
It was Mrs. Tomlinson our school counselor!
The kids LOVED having her come and read.
We can't wait to be surprised by the next Masked Reader!!!
To end our day we had another Birthday Reader!
We celebrated Natalie's summer birthday by having her mom come and read!
The kids LOVED hearing about the adventures of a lost mitten and a lost sock!
Whew! We had a great week with some amazing people!
Friday we started off meeting a very talented man...
Mr. Thoelke is the music director and organist at Zion. He told us all about the organ and how it works.
He even gave us our own little private concert.
The kids had a great time talking with Mr. Thoelke.
They even had a fun hug and high fives for him as we left.
We were busy weighing these zoo animals.
The kids had to read the hidden word on the zoo animal.
Then they had to write down which "word" was the heaviest.
To end our morning, a surprise visitor showed up!
Mac's grandparents surprised him by being our Friday Reader!
Mac was excited to share a story about a blue truck and its adventures on the farm. His grandparent actually live on a farm and have a blue truck!
The kids loved meeting Mac's grandparents.
In the afternoon, we had a vet come and talk to the kids!
Mrs. Paul brought a lot of interesting things!
See if your child can remember what was in this cage!!!
Some little mice were hiding in this cage.
A little gecko was ready to say hi too!
Some of the animals the kids even got to pet!
Mrs. Paul also brought a bird that thought it could "talk".
She even likes to dance.
It was a very friendly bird.
Visiting with the vet and her interesting animals was definitely something the kids will always remember.
Our zoo fun continued back in the classroom.
The kids were busy buying tickets to the zoo!
Before they got their ticket, they had to go to the bank first to get their money.
WOW! What a busy and exciting week!
