NO WORRIES!
We kicked off September with CAMP LEARN-A-LOT!
Even a pond showed up in our room!
The kids each got a letter tent
and tried to find that letter somewhere in the classroom.
They also used our letter logs to match up beginning sounds in camping words.
Making our own camp sights brought smiles to the kids' faces.
They even added our alphabet people to the campsites.
Next up was going to the pond.
The kids each took a lowercase letter from the bucket.
Then the kids had to match up the letters.
They brought the match back to their camping buddies to add to their collection.
In the afternoon we were busy playing a copy cat game.
One partner rolled the dice.
With the magnetic circles they had to create a design using only the amount they rolled.
Their partner had to try to copy the design.
The kids also had fun going fishing for numbers.
They could only keep the fish that matched the color of their boat.
It was tricky getting the fish to stick!
It was so nice outside, we were excited to sneak in an extra recess!
Hold on... our week was just getting started!
Wednesday we started off with Mrs. Crumrine and music class!
She had us keeping the rhythm and learning each others' name with a fun song about a hammer.
Our busy morning continued as we hustled over to chapel.
Ms. Steinbacher led our chapel with the help of Mr. Wood (our church's DCE)
She took us on a scavenger hunt in church, looking for clues that God loves us.
Each time we found our clue said, "Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH, the LIFE".
Back in the classroom, we were actually using our sense of smell AND touch.
The kids rolled the alphabet dice
and made that letter in the playdoh.
Some wrote the letter with a stick others formed the letter.
We also used our sense of smell to play a guessing game.
The kids had to guess what smell was in the little jars.
They guessed LOTS of different smells.
We smelled everything from vanilla
to toothpaste.
Chocolate chips and cinnamon too.
Even coffee and vinegar!
Some of the smells they liked!
Some smells were okay.
Some smells were not so good.
Some smells were "disgusting"!
We might not have agreed on all of the smells...
but everyone agreed they LOVED this game!
Thursday we had more letter adventures.
After reading this beautiful book,
We used our pattern blocks to make letters.
We also went on an alphabet scavenger hunt.
The kids also worked hard at doing name puzzles.
We continued working our emotion study as we read this GREAT book!
It talked about being a SCRIBBLE of emotions.
The kids had fun designing their own scribble spot.
The kids also enjoyed hearing the story about Wemberly Worried. We talked a lot about "spinning a worry story" and how that can make us miss out on fun things.
Then we practiced making our best "worried faces".
The kids also enjoyed making their first memory verse masterpiece. By the end of the year they will have a whole collection of memory verses.
We ended our week with another exciting gym class!
The kids went to four different stations.
This game was called "knock it off".
They had a blast playing "fish out of water".
The scooping game was a little tricky,
but they got the hang of it!
This team worked hard to build their alphabet town as we got right to work in the classroom.
My group was busy making rhyming marshmallows at our campfire.
They had to share it with a friend if the rhyme didn't belong to them.
We have some happy campers who love to rhyme!
The kids could not wait to read this hilarious book!
Then they got to make their own "TOO MUCH GLUE" picture to match the story.
They could squeeze out as much glue as they wanted to to cover their person.
Then they added all kind of scraps and treasures to their person.
It was so messy...
but they turned out to be quite the masterpieces!
The kids also worked on practicing their numbers.
They rolled the dice and had to right that number.
They had to see which number was the winner on their paper!
The pattern blocks were back to help us create numbers this time!
That's it for now...
Hang in there, more adventures headed your way next week!
