Take a peek at what we were up to this week!
We started off the week with another great time in gym with Mrs. Jennings!
After reading Alphabet Under Construction,
the kids worked hard to assemble letters out of wooden pieces.
Then they got to "bedazzle" it with beads and BUGS!
The kids also enjoyed using our letter tiles to practice spelling their names.
They even looked for letters to help their friend spell their names!
Monday was our first time using the library! The kids were SO excited!

The kids also worked on making a bug graph!
They rolled the dice to see how many bugs they would get.
Then they had to put the bugs above the correct number.
To kick off Tuesday we read this silly story about waiting for a bus. Lots of other vehicles came instead of the bus!
The kids enjoyed driving the letter bus!
They flipped over a letter wheel.
Then they had to deliver the lowercase letter to the right bus.
Sometimes the bus went zooming by!
They got SO excited when they completed a bus!
They also enjoyed being on the READING BUS!
In math we finally let Pigeon drive the bus!
The kids had to quickly show on their fingers how many people were on the bus. Then we added Pigeon to our number. 2 kids+1 Pigeon= 3 passengers on the bus
They were busy creating buses and other vehicles.
Then they rolled the dice to see how many people got to be on the bus.
Some kids even made jets for the people to ride on!
Wednesday we started off the day with Mrs. Crumrine and music class.
We used some S'MORE ingredients in a very different way!
The kids had a blast painting with marshmallows!
They created quite the masterpieces.
Some of them were still tempted to eat the messy marshmallow!
The kids were also busy telling their own "BEWARE of the BEAR" story!
They built a campsite using our wooden squares, logs, and alphabet people.
They each had one bear they had to hide in their creation.
The kids also went on an alphabet S'MORE hunt.
When they found the s'more they traced the letter on their paper.
My group gathered around the "fire" and pulled out a marshmallow or a chocolate bar that had pictures on them.
They had to match it up to the right alphabet graham crackers.
SWEET SUCCESS!
We watched a wonderful video that taught us all about our sense of taste and our TONGUES.
The kids enjoyed looking at each other's tongues and looking for the tiny taste buds.
In the afternoon the kids enjoyed practicing writing their numbers in graham crackers!
They had to pick out a card
and practice that number in the crushed up graham crackers.
A special visitor came to help us with a special art project!
Mrs Lohman used to teach preschool at Zion and loves to help out with art projects.
The kids used eye droppers to paint a cloth.
It was quite the messy project!
Our week wasn't quite finished...
Thursday was another ZERO HERO day! We have been in school for 20 days!
We headed to chapel with our newly painted cross.
Mr. Debrick led our chapel.
He reminded us that a lot of people have jobs where they are "in charge", but God is in charge of everything.
These super readers were busy smashing rhymes!
I called out a word.
If they had a picture that rhymed with my word,
they used their superhero to smash it!
They also played with some "super pets".
First each child rolled a dice.
Then they moved their super pet that many spaces.
Whatever letter they landed on, they had to say the name of the letter and the sound it makes.
Go SUPER READERS!
During math we were busy "feeding" our super heroes.
After picking a super hero,
the kids spun the number wheel to see how much food they got. Then they had to figure out who got the most food.
The kids also enjoyed learning the story of Noah's Ark this week.
In the afternoon the kids LOVED doing this Noah's Ark experiment.
First each kid got to pick out a boat.
Then they started putting animals on their boat one at a time.
The kids carefully put the animals on the boat so they wouldn't fall off.
Some of the kids' boat held A LOT of animals.
We discovered that cups do not make good boats!
The kids loved this experiment so much,
This art project was a special one to remind the kids of their memory verse!
They painted a rainbow on some bubble wrap!
They gave the paper a little pat and pulled the paper off.
TA-DA! It turned into a beautiful masterpiece!
ZERO HERO day was a SUPER day!
Friday our day started off with gym!
Mrs. Jennings taught them a new game about polar bears chasing fish!
These bugs needed some "love taps".
I called out a letter sound.
If they had a letter that matched my sound,
they had to smack the bug.
Some kids looked like bug swatting experts!
The kids also were excited to build bug houses!
In the afternoon the kids were spinning for bugs.
Whatever number they spun,
that's the number of bugs the kids had to put at our campsite.
The kids used the tweezers
to deliver the bugs to the trays.
The kids' brains really got to work as they used the pattern blocks to create bugs.
They even added detail by creating a place for the bugs to live.
The kids finished off the day by painting bugs with balloons!
They first had to squash the balloon down to make the body of the bug.
Then they added details to their bug to create a story!
Thanks for joining us! Stay tuned for more adventures next week...
