APPLE ADVENTURE WEEK!

It was a rainy, gloomy week...

But that didn't stop our fun!

Mrs. Jennings LAUNCHED us into the week with another fun gym class.

We kicked off our APPLE ADVENTURES with an apple hunt!

Once they found the letter, they traced it on their alphabet chart.

This group was turning an alphabet tree into an apple tree!

They took turns pulling a  picture card from the bucket.

Whatever that picture started with, they covered it up with an apple.

The kids also enjoyed another trip to the library!

Don't forget to turn in library books on Monday!  :)

We also had a great time reading Ten Apples Up On Top!

The kids practiced spinning the apple spinner

and then using the tweezers to cover up the 10 frame that matched by using an "apple".

We also worked on a special writing project.

They each rolled the dice to see how many apples they got to put on their head!

They drew a picture of themselves with that many apples up on top!

More adventures popped up Tuesday.

The kids were working their finger muscles as they picked an apple letter

then made that letter with playdoh and sticks.

They also worked hard to finish this apple relay race.

They had to sort the capital and lowercase "Aa's".
They had to be careful not to get a "bad apple".
The kids LOVED reading this book!  They immediately noticed it was very similar to Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM!

Then the kids got to work creating their own tree using scrap paper.
"Chicka chicka 1,2,3!  Will there be a place for me?"

The apple spinners were back in the afternoon.

This time we were filling our apple tree.

We had to make sure there were 5 apples on the tree.
If they spun a 3, they had to put three green apples on the tree.
Then they had to add two more red ones to make 5 apples all together.

The kids also enjoyed using their imagination to make loose parts trees.

Time to paint some trees!

It was one TREEmendous day!

Wednesday Mrs. Crumrine got us moving in music class.

We put our magnatiles to work this week.

First they had to pick a magnatile
that had a picture stuck to it.

Next they picked the letter that was the beginning sound.

They had to put it in the metal pan
and try to cook it.

The other friends made the sound of the letter to see if it was a match.

If it was a match, we got to say, "WELL DONE!"

One group also headed outside to use the magnetic wands.

They used their magic wands to pick up the matching alphabet apple.

For math we took a "train" to the apple orchard.

We had to make sure their were five passengers on the train.
Then we had to figure out who took the apple from the apple orchard.
"Was it the 5th person on the train?"

"Who me?  Couldn't be!  Then who?"

"Who me?  It's true! But I will give it back to you!"

In the afternoon, we worked on learning about the parts of an apple.

The kids each got a chance to core an apple, with a special tool.

They had to use their muscles to get it to turn.

When they were done, Mrs. McBroom showed them how long the skin was!
They even got to taste the skin.

Then we took a peek at the flesh of the apple.

It had turned into a slinky!
Thumbs up for another awesome day with apple adventures!

Thursday we warmed up our brains by singing..."Way up high in our alphabet tree..."

The letter m, smiled down at me!

Everybody shook the tree as hard as they could until the letter came down.

Mrs. Aslin led our chapel this week.  She reminded us that even though our sins chain us up and weigh us down,

Jesus set us free from all of those sins.

Thank you SO much for your generosity!  You can also donate virtually.

This time our magnatiles were helping us with beginning sounds.
They were each in charge of a letter.

They used the magnetic wand to pick up the picture that belonged to them.

In the afternoon, we put our listening ears on to play this game.

The kids each picked a clear canister and shook it.
Then they picked up a black canister that they thought sounded the same.

It was a very tricky game!

The kids were good listeners.

The kids had fun using the apple dice to cover the apples.

The day was done, but we had one more day of apple adventures...

Mrs. Jennings started off our Friday by having the kids make "pizzas".

It was a fun pizza relay race!
They had to keep adding "toppings" to their pizza until all the toppings were gone.

Our APPLE ADVENTURE DAY began with some apple investigations.
The kids examined their apples.
Some discovered holes in the apples!
Some used the special investigation glasses to find bruises.
\
Then they wrote down what was wrong with the apples.

They also measured the apples.

Balancing and weighing the apples was also a part of their investigation.

The kids also had fun bobbing for apples!

They picked a letter and found a letter hiding on it.  Then they had to write that letter on their dry erase board.

Of course the kids painted with apples!
They were surprised to find a star hiding on the bottom of the apple!

We finished our apple stations with a little taste testing.

We sampled some apples the kids liked.
Some apples the kids did not like.

Then each kid voted for their favorite apple in my special voting box.

It actually was a tie between Granny Smith apples and our miscellaneous "fancy" apples.
After reading the story of Bad Apple

we got to work making Will the worm.

The kids picked a number card and made that many parts to Will's body.

Then they practiced making that number with the playdoh.

Finally the moment the kids had been waiting for... tasting the applesauce they helped make!

Some did not care for it.

Others liked it.

Some gobbled it up

and even begged for seconds!

It was a great week, filled with many apple adventures!

Stay tuned to found out what we will be up to next week...
