Fall LEAVES Fall!

Another picture perfect week!
Look carefully! It was raining leaves in our classroom,

as we practiced filling up our 10 frame with leaves.

The leaves had all blown off the trees in this beginning sound game.

They had to pick a "leaf".

Then they checked to see which tree it belonged to.

If it belonged to them,
they kept.

Otherwise they had to give it to their neighbor.

In this game the kids were working to cover up their own alphabet tree.
They pulled out a leaf with a picture and found the alphabet letter that matched the beginning sound.

The "wind" blew these alphabet leaves away.
The kids had to guess which leaf was missing!

The kids also enjoyed creating leaf letters! They did this by gluing down real leaves to cover up their initials.

This special art project helped us make 10!

One person rolled the dice. Then the partner figured out how many more dots they needed to make a total of 10!

Who knew math could also be a work of art!

The kids were also busy "shopping" at our FALL STORE.

They could only have a total of 10 items. One friend put items in our giant 10 frame.

The second friend grabbed the reminder of items to fill it up!

We were also busy campaigning for our favorite letter by making alphabet posters.

The kids also loved using Legos to make letters.

After reading the WONDERFUL book Leaf Man,

the kids had a blast making their own leaf creations!

This is a mouse!

A self portrait?

Here is a square puppy face .

The kids had fun with this tricky 10 frame game.

They had to fill up the 10 frame first.

Once they did that,
They took the blocks from the 10 frame and built something with them.

Mrs. Steinbacher helped us with gym class this week.

She taught us all about stacking cups!

The kids really enjoyed figuring out this new activity!

They had to stack up the cups as quickly as they could.

Then they yelled out, "Popcorn!"

Next they got moving!

They did a fun relay race

and worked together to get the cups up and down!

Music class brought more fun and laughter!

They want a silly echo song.

They echoed Mte. Crumrine's words and actions!

These squirrels were busy finding their rhyming acorns.
They also had to find the right leaves

To help the squirrel build his word.

The kids are doing such a great job of making words already!

These little squirrels needed our help!

We helped them find their acorns.

Finally it was time to cast our vote for our favorite letter!

After tallying up our votes, we narrowed it down to C, A, and M. Stayed tuned to find out the winner!

It was such a beautiful day, we snuck outside for a quick nature walk.

They found a lot of amazing leaves!

In the afternoon, the kids enjoyed balancing our fall items.

They discovered the walnuts were pretty heavy.

One pine cone took two big acorns with BIG caps to balance.

They also had fun tracing and coloring their beautiful leaves.

Hang in there, we have a few more adventures to share.

Our DCE, Mr. Wood, led our chapel this week.

He talked about all the things he was thankful for. He also mentioned we should be thankful ALL year long.

Thank you so much for your generosity! This month we are buying turkeys for the seminarian families.

Don't forget to bring in your canned goods for offering next week. Thanks so much!

These little squirrels were busy delivering acorns.

The kids were so excited to find an acorn hiding near them.

The squirrel wanted to eat 10 acorns.

If he didn't get 10, he got HANGRY and threw a fit!
We then had to finish filling up the 10 frame to make the squirrel happy!

The kids were also busy helping the squirrel make words.

They grabbed a card and matched the letters

OR they challenged themselves to spell the word all by themselves!

These little squirrels were busy hiding alphabet acorns under a bowl.

If they had the squirrel that matched the acorn, they kept it.

If they didn't have the right squirrel, they gave it to a friend.

The kids enjoyed using these acorns to figure out how to make a word.

I love watching them stretch the sounds out and SLIDE the sounds together to figure out the words!

The kids also enjoyed being squirrels looking for leaf letters

and then using play-doh to make the letters.

After reading Squirrel's Busy Day

The kids got to work helping squirrel build an acorn carrier.

Each kid had a different idea on how to help squirrel.

They also enjoyed playing a matching memory game.

Each squirrel needed  to find its matching acorn.

We brought a little sunshine to our day with our memory verse art!

REJOICE in the LORD always!

Friday arrived with lots of smiles and adventures!

We told the story of how the Israelites finally made it to the PROMISE LAND!

We took the arch of the covenant and walked to the promise land.

When we arrived, we found the Jordan River.

The kids carefully crossed the river

and then picked up 12 rocks to build a monument just like the Israelites.

The kids LOVED helping our turkey out.

Our turkey had 10 feathers that we needed to find.

First we rolled the dice to see how many feathers blew away.

One friend passed out that many feathers to kids who were sitting quietly.

We gave them to our turkey and filled up our ten frame
and had to figure how many more feather we needed.

More feathers to find!

These feathers had pictures on them.

The kids had to find the right turkey that the feather belonged to.

They made sure the turkeys had all of their feathers.

YAY!  It was time for our Friday reader!

Ari's mom read to us this HILARIOUS book
that had all the kids laughing and giggling!

It was the perfect way to end our week as usual.

We LEAF fall behind and move on to...

WADDLE we be up to next week?
