Pumpkin Adventures

We were all set for some pumpkin adventures...

but first it was time for some DOG-gone good fun!
We started off by reading this hilarious book!  The kids absolutely LOVED it!

Then the kids got to work matching up some ice cream cones.

I gave them a cone, and they had to find the ice cream that rhymed with it.

We also played...
WHO LET THE LETTERS OUT?!

Each little dog grabbed a letter from the bowl,
and the kids had to say the name and the letter sound.

These little doggies needed to find their homes.

The doggies had the lowercase letters and they had to find the uppercase letters that matched.

They also had a great time building these dog houses.

They used the alphabet blocks to create the dog houses.

We even snuck some pattern blocks in their to help out too!

Monday was LIBRARY DAY!

The kids always love picking out books!  Happy reading!
After reading this classic book...

These kids were on the GO!

They had to roll the dice
to see how many doggies could go into the houses.
They kept rolling the dice until they filled up the house.

It was time for DOT DAY!!!
We started off by reading this FANTASTIC book.  It is one of my favorites!  It is a great reminder to "MAKE YOUR MARK".

We rolled these alphabet dice

and used giant marshmallows to put dots on the letter.

It turned out to be a dotted masterpiece!

The kids also enjoyed this dot to dot game.

They pulled out a picture.

Whatever the picture started with,

the kids had to hop to that dot.

We used these domino cards to help us fill up our 10 frames with dots.

We counted the dominos and made sure that many dots were in our 10 frame.

Mrs. Blackford helped the kids with this dot day art project.
The kids picked out three colors to put on their dots.

Then they twisted and smooshed it together.

The kids were AMAZED at how it turned out!

We were also busy making these dotted pumpkins.

After covering the pumpkin in dots, the kids sprayed it.

They LOVED watching the colors spread.

Another fun music class with Mrs. Crumrine.

She practiced echoing and changing the sound of their voices.

Mrs. Helmkamp led chapel this week.
She reminded us that God's love and forgiveness is a free gift to us.
After reading this GREAT book, we talked about what our perfect pumpkin would look like.
We also enjoyed picking out these letter pumpkins.

They had to use the tweezers to help with their fine motor skills.

They drew they letter in the pumpkin seeds.

More rhyming fun as they worked on these pumpkin puzzles.

Time for beginning sound bingo!

The kids had to give a clue what letter they picked by saying the picture and letter sound.

Then the other friends had to guess what letter it was and cover it up on their board.

YAY!  Four in a row!

The kids had a blast making these emotional pumpkin faces!  Check out the hair and mustache on this jack-o-lattern!

We were excited to have Miss Steinbacher come and help us with our memory verse.

They tossed the ball to help them remember the words, and then they recorded it on Seesaw!

Since we couldn't make it to the pumpkin farm, the kids designed their own farm.

We also played "the kindergartners go marching around the farm..."

If they had the letter I called out, they had to sit down.

We also played musical pumpkin.

Who ever had the pumpkin when the music stopped
had to call out the letter and letter sound.

Everybody else had to echo them!

Mrs. Donner was back to help us with our pumpkin farm adventures.

She brought a little friend named Bee-Bot.

The kids programmed Bee-Bot to go to the correct lowercase letter.

In this pumpkin game the kids closed their eyes,

and then picked a pumpkin.

Whatever letter was hiding under the pumpkin,

was the letter they highlighted on their paper.

Round two of this game was bowling the pumpkin cups over.

Whatever letter they hit, they had to highlight on their paper.

Playing their own special games was SO exciting!

Candy Land
and Guess Who were of course  big hits.

But there were a  lot of new games too!

It was SO fun to watch them play this alligator game!

Watch out or the alligator might chomp you!

This Mario game also had the giggling with excitement!

It was a game of balance.

Oh SO fun!

Mrs. Cowgill had the kid balancing these special pumpkins during a relay race.

A letter was hiding inside of their pumpkin egg.

They carefully carried the pumpkin to a friend who opened it up to see what letter was inside.

We also played a game called, "Who Took the Pumpkin from the Pumpkin Farm?"

Someone on the tractor took the pumpkin.  The kids had to guess, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th person.

Who me?

Couldn't be! Then who?

Who me?  It's true!

But I will give it back to you!

We took a quick adventure outside to find some hidden pumpkins.

Each kiddo found a mini pumpkin hiding outside in the grass and around the sidewalk.

They were so excited to find their special pumpkin.

We played another pumpkin seed game.  This time with a spinner!

We were trying to see how many spins it took to fill up our pumpkin cups.

The kids also took their special pumpkin
and painted a picture of it.

They had to describe what their pumpkin looked like.

It wasn't how we had originally planned it but it turned out to be a GREAT day!

What time is it?

Friday dance party time!

Of course our favorite part is always... "Give a friend a hug"!

It's the best way to start our day!

We were looking for pumpkins in the pumpkin patch!

Once they found the capital letter,

They had to report it back to their friends.

They also had to look for the lowercase letter seed to match.

Then everyone made that letter with the playdoh.

In this pumpkin number game,

the kids picked out a number to see who had the greatest number.

Then they put that many seeds in their 10 frame and practiced writing that number.

We ended our busy week with another MARVELOUS Friday reader!

Zane's grandma read to us this hilarious book
and brought a special treat for the kids too!

It was the perfect way to end our week!
We are looking forward to some more fun adventures next week!
