Short week... but we packed in some learning adventures!
We kicked off our literacy unit of nursery rhymes with this book! It is a very thought provoking sequel to Humpty Dumpty.
The kids then had a challenge of building their own walls for Humpty Dumpty.
Before they could put the egg on the wall,
they had to open it up
to see what letter they needed to practice writing.
Then it was time to add the eggs.
The kids had a great time trying to get it to balance.
Next up... Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a NUMBER!
The kids raced each other to grab a number.
They called out their number to see who had the greatest number!
The kids enjoyed some fun in the sun by showing off a few tricks!
We continued talking about Joseph during Jesus time.
The kid enjoyed this art project of creating their own coat of many colors.
They each received a plain white "coat" made out of a paper towel.
They used liquid watercolor and an eyedropper to create beautiful masterpieces.
Of course Monday was LIBRARY DAY! YAY!
HAPPY READING!
Tuesday was Friday-ish, so we broke out our dancing shoes!
The only thing better than a Friday dance party is a Tuesday dance party!
Jack and Jill were back!
This time they had to fetch a VOWEL.
They had to find the vowel that was missing from my word
and bring it back to the group.
They had to be careful not to "spill" the bucket!
Someone just might have been spraying them with water. :)
Then they took the vowel and put it in the middle of my word to see if it was correct.
The last step was writing the word on their own plate and reading it.
They did GREAT with this activity!
The next nursery rhyme was Pat-a-Cake...
The kids enjoyed creating their own cakes,
but then they had to grab a pumpkin and write the letter on the cake that matched the picture.
Learning can be so YUMMY!
This game was Jack Be Nimble!
These were special candlesticks that had letters hiding on them.
As they hopped over the letter, they had to say the letter.
Their friends had to say the sound and write down the letter on the paper.
Another fun nursery rhyme we read was I'm a Little Teapot. The teapot took two children on some great adventures!
We had our own little teapot adventures!
The kids each chose one cup.
Then they took the tiny tea cup
and guessed how many tiny cups it would take to fill their cup.
With every pour they made,
their smiles got bigger and bigger!
WOW! This teapot certainly made a day full of adventures for us.
We can't wait to find out what adventures we go on next week!
