There was no time for sleeping this week!
We kicked off the week with teamwork.
The kids used all different kinds of shapes to build mangers
and stables.
Some even added animals to their manger scene.
Away in a manger...
No crib for a bed!
The kids had some interesting ideas
of what Jesus should have slept in.
It was time to ACCESSORIZE!
We lit up the day with our fancy outfits
and enjoyed some candy cane fun too!
The kids had a great time playing this candy cane game.
They played candy cane shuffle board!
The candy canes were like little hockey sticks!
The kids hit the pom pom with the candy cane.
Whatever word they landed on
they had to practice reading that word.
The kids also enjoyed writing with candy canes!
They picked out a letter tree.
Whatever letter they got, they had to practice writing with their candy cane.
These candy cane shapes
were fun to create with!
We even figured out you could make numbers and letter with them!
Some special people at Zion were so sweet and set up a hot cocoa stand for the kids!
It was the perfect way to stay warm on this cold, wintery day!
It definitely put some warm smiles on our faces!
More candy cane adventures in the afternoon!
The kids made some wonderful designs with the candy canes.
They also put their thinking caps on and figured out how to balance some interesting candy canes.
They even balanced a GIANT candy cane!
We also did a little candy cane experiment.
We checked to see what would happen if you put a candy cane in ice water and warm water.
Candy cane cup creations were a sweet success.
The kids used red and white cups to make different towers and creations.
We definitely have some amazing builders in the group!
Finally our special day arrived!
We have been practicing for weeks to help lead the Christmas service with the 8th graders.
We opened some special presents when we got back to the classroom.
Hopefully these ornaments bring back lots of good kindergarten memories.
Then is was time to party!
We were busy decorating Christmas trees!
Making marshmallow creations was definitely a yummy challenge!
The hardest part was not eating them!
The kids also had fun designing their own necklaces.
In the hallway they were busy fishing for candy canes!
It took a lot of patience!
Their fingers were hard at work making little wreath and candy cane ornaments out of beads.
Even the first graders dropped by with a special surprise for us!
Thank you to ALL of our special helpers for making it such a great day!!!
Our special project is ALMOST complete!
Here are a few more pictures from our Christmas project...
Merry CHRISTmas!
