Shaping Up to Be to Great Week!

This week flew by!

Lots of Christmas adventures headed our way.

This was our little Christmas tree farm.
These special "trees" had words and letters on them.
The farmer picked out some special trees

and the customers wrote down what "trees" they got.

After reading the word or letter, they put them together to make a tree tower!

These Christmas trees helped us practicing spelling!

Mrs. Wood called out a word.

They had to put an "ornament" on the letters that spelled that word.

We were in tip top shape to play this game.
The kids closed their eyes.  When they opened them...

They had to describe where their friend was in relation to the shape.

In between two cylinders.

Evn on a cube!

The kids had fun making these circles.
We turned these circles into the background

for a Christmas tree scene.
After reading The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever,

the kids teamed up to make their own big Christmas trees.

Each design was very unique.

Some took up the WHOLE background.

Others were small and took up very little space.

This class of kindergartners is so creative!

More Christmas tree adventures...

This time we were trying to find the right presents to fit under the tree.

They had to match the letter to the right picture on the tree.

Some reindeer popped by our room this week too.

The kids were trying to figure out what carrots to feed him.

They had to look at the picture on the carrot
and then write down what letter the word ended with (sometimes they could even spell the whole word!).

In gym, we were playing some reindeer relay races.
They had to pick up the sphere out of the cylinder.

Go around the cones.

Hop over the square.

And dribble the ball once.

On DASHER...

On DANCER...
On Comet...

and Cupid...
In chapel it was time to light two candles... a candle for hope and a candle for peace.

Mrs. Lohmann reminded us that Jesus could have come with trumpets and fanfare.
but He came as a small child for you and for me.
She shared this wonderful video with us.

Thanks for your generosity!  We are up to...$1,033.35 !  WAHOO!

More word fun!
This time we were using POP-ITS!

The kids were SO excited to pop out their CVC words!  "I just love these things!"
After popping the words out,
They colored the matching ornament as they read the word.

Rhyming reindeer ring toss was flying in the hallway.

After they tossed the ring, their friend had to write the word they tossed to.

More creative Christmas trees!

We used loose parts this time to create some tiny trees.

They were so proud of the unique trees they created by themselves.

Some even added little treasures under the tree.

Another building adventure!

The kids were challenged to use all kinds of shapes to build with.
The tricky part ...

they had to roll a dice to see which shape they got to use!

These two worked together to see what shape they would get.

We discovered some shapes were easier to build with than others.

No matter what shapes the kids used,

their designs always turned

out AMAZING!

After reading this hilarious book...

We decided we better x-ray the Old Lady to see just what else she ate.

There were some mixed up letters they had to put together first
to see what word they made.

Then they took an x-ray of the Old Lady
to see if they were right!

They couldn't believe some of the things she swallowed!  :)

They also enjoyed going on a letter search on boxes!
They picked out a gift that had a letter on it.
Then they  searched for that letter on the different boxes.
They wrote the letter down every time they found it.
They had a great time building shapes with the magnatiles.

Then they discovered they could add bells to their creations!

This little bell was hiding under the trees!

The kids had to write down the number of the tree where the bell was hiding.

The kids had a blast designing Santa's sled with shapes.

Look at the special features on Santa's new sled!

The one has rocket boosters so he can fly SUPER fast!

All aboard!  Next stop... KINDERGARTEN!

The Polar Express story had the kids on the edge of their seats the whole time!

They turned these shapes into an alphabet train.

The next train was the reading express!

It dropped them off at giant POP IT land!

The kids loved spelling words with the magnetic letters

and a giant POP-IT!

It made them laugh when the letters went flying off!  :)

This was the shape train.
The conductor passed out tickets.

The kids had to figure out what ticket got them on the train!

Sometimes the ticket got them on...

sometimes it did not!

Can you guess what ticket got these passengers on the train?
WOHOO! We love the train game!

They finished off the day making train tracks

tunnel and towns for the trains to go through.

Some kids even made billboards!   :)

Once their town and tracks were made...

it was time to take the train around the town!

They even got to ring the bell while the train went around.

For unto us a child is born.

Unto us a son is given.

A little peek into our special Nativity project!

AWAY IN A MANGER...
