The heat couldn't stop us...
We were ready to celebrate FALL this week!
The kids were working on apple picking.
Some kids even closed their eyes to add an element of surprise!
Then they had to find the capital letter that matched.
The capital letters went into the "pie".
The lowercase letters they kept in their bowl. YUMMY!
They also had fun designing apple trees!
They used our alphabet dice for "apples".
It was a little tricky trying to get them to balance.
TREEmendous work!
Twister was another fun game that kept us on our toes!
Mrs. Wood called out a letter or a letter sound,
the kids had to stretch to reach those letters.
This is a great game to practice letters and sounds at home!
And it is good for your core strength too!
This a great story we read, and we were able to listen to too!
Then we rolled the dice
and counted how many apples to put on our heads.
Then they created a picture showing how many apples were "up on top".
Another dice game had us using linking cubes for apples.
We rolled the dice to see how many green, red, and yellow apples to put on the tree.
They had fun playing this game with partners too!
Monday was also library day!
The kids are SO excited to go the library and check out new books every week!
The kids loved reading Our Tree Named Steve. It inspired some kids to go home and start naming their trees too! :)

We got to work creating our very own special trees.
We used squishy rings to create the leaves of the tree.
The back of the paint brushes helped us to create apples.
We haven't named our unique trees.
But we sure are proud of them!
The kids had a GREAT time playing this balancing game.
They rolled the dice to see how many apples they had to stack and balance.
Some "apples were a little bit harder to stack than others.
The kids really worked hard and had a lot of patience.
They were SO proud of themselves
when they got it to balance!
The kids had fun playing this apple tag game.
They had to pull out a stick and find the apple that matched.
They are becoming quite the alphabet experts!
We ran right to Wednesday... which means GYM TIME!
We were doing a little apple tossing!
The kids took turns tossing bean bags into the hula hoops.
They tossed five "apples" into the baskets
and then switched with their partner.
Next up was music class.
They sang a silly song called, "Pass the Butter Please".
Of course they had to pass the butter as they sang it!
Mrs. Coad also brought out the jingle bells!
They practiced shaking the bells to the tempo of the song.
Then we were off on our hike from A-Z!
First stop was of course Mrs. Coad! C is for coffee!
E is for elevator.
Then we stopped by to see the ladies in the church office.
Mrs. Adams juggled apples for us!
She is A-mazing!
Then she showed us how to strike a pose for the cameras! :)
Then Mrs. Thomason popped out of her office! T is for tiny teddy bear!
W is for our WONDERFUL Wednesday Guys (who fix things on our campus).
Our hike continued as we stopped by to see the cooks.
We found some familiar faces along the way and couldn't help but give them a quick squeeze!
Mrs. Boettcher showed us broccoli.
Miss Mel showed us milk and macaroni!
Miss Kori showed us ketchup.
Miss Julia showed us some juice!
We sure do love our lunch ladies and their helpers too!
E is for Mrs. Ernstmeyer.
We made our way to the school office and found Mrs. Holtz with hearts.
Then we found Mr. Debrick.
Mr. Debrick showed us a donut!
We made a quick visit to Nurse Connie.
C is for calculator.
We managed to sneak into Mr. Marolf's office for a little bit.
M is for Mariners bobble head (some of the kids were a little upset he cheers for the Mariners!)
On our way back we found out P is for preschoolers having a picnic snack.
And we can't forget Z is for Zion!
We finished up the hike by reading a book called A My Name is Alice.
Then they worked on creating their own alphabet book. Each child created a page for the book.
P is for penguin. Be looking for the final creation soon!
We were also playing an alphabet dice game to add to our alphabet adventures.
The kids rolled the alphabet dice
and had to stack them up on the right letter.
They had to see which letter was the winner!
We were also busy using our sense of smell.
They smelled a variety of jars
and had to guess what it was.
Some smells they didn't care for.
Some smells they loved!
And some smells were not good but not bad either.
Can you guess if they liked the smell or didn't?
They LOVED this SENTsational game!
This week's chapel was led by Pastor Fieberkorn.
He reminded us how we can show God's love to others and how God shows His love to us!
Thanks again for your generosity!
Back in the classroom we were busy putting apples in the right basket.
They flipped an apple over
and matched it to the letter that the picture on the apple started with.
They did GREAT with this game!
They also had fun "bobbing" for apples.
They each picked an apple that was floating in the bucket.
Whatever letter they got on the bottom of the apple, was the letter their team had to practice writing.
They were also busy tossing "apples" to the muffin tin!
The muffin had different letters hiding in it.
Whatever letter they landed on, their partner had to write that letter down.
In the afternoon, the kids got to help core the apples.
They had a BLAST watching the spiral pop off!
"It looks like a slinky!"
Then they were able to taste the skin.
Normally kids don't like skin,
But when it looks like a "snake", they LOVE it!
We were amazed how long the skin of the apple was!
We finished our week with APPLE ADVENTURE DAY!
Check out these apple trees!
The kids used sticks, clay, buttons, and play-doh to make apple trees.
They also worked hard to be apple investigators.
The kids tried to balance real apples
and apple erasers.
It was tricky to get it to balance.
They even measured the apples.
We are GREAT apple investigators.
Then they painted with apples!
Mrs. Wood showed them how it kind of looks like a star on the inside.
Then they made some apple prints with the apples.
They were surprised by their masterpieces! :)
Of course Apple Adventure Day included apple tasting.
They tried four different kinds of apples.
Some kids didn't really care for the Granny Smith apples.
They said it was too sour!
Other kids loved ALL the apples!
When they were all done taste testing,
they voted for their favorite apples.
Honey crisp was the winner!
Another fun balancing project.
The kids had SO much fun designing trees and getting real apples to balance on top.
Everybody came up with their own unique designs.
Some kids were even able to balance two apples!
Some even figured out a way to balance three apples! WOW!
They were so excited when they figured it out!
It was so fun to watch them work together to create their trees!
After watching this video (warning this song gets stuck in your head), we voted on our favorite apple food. Apple juice was actually the winner!
Finally it was time to taste our apple sauce!
We smelled it cooking all day long in our slow cooker and finally it was time to try it.
Most of the kids actually did NOT like it!
Maybe it's a texture thing?
There were some kids who said it was the best thing they ever tasted!
Some gobbled it up and even wanted seconds!
No matter how they felt about the apple sauce,
they all agreed APPLE ADVENTURE DAY was a great day!
Here's to another picture perfect week headed our way!
