This week had us moving and shaking!
We have been working a lot on rhyming. Everyday I show the kids a rhyme, and then they get to make up their own...
Our RHYME OF THE DAY: bug in a mug!
Sooo, we started off the day going on a bug hunt.
Once we found the bug,
we had to find the right jar to put it.
The lowercase bugs had to match up to the uppercase bugs.
The kids were racing into action to get them all done!
Some bugs turned into masterpieces!
The kids used bottles as stamps.
This was the body of the bug.
Then they added detail to the body to make it a beautiful bug!
Monday was our first trip to the school library!
The kids were SO excited to check out some new books!
QUICK REMINDER: THEY ARE DUE ON MONDAY!
These little bugs were trying to get away.
We squeezed them tight
and put them in their "boxes".
RHYME OF THE DAY: Pug on the rug!
A bus drove into our classroom on Tuesday to help us with the /b/ sound!
We were trying to get the bus to pick up only things that started with B!
Sometimes the bus got a little crazy and tried to pick up a penguin or a pig!
The kids also worked hard to find the right wheels for their buses.
Yes! The letters on the bus go round and round all through the town!
Next stop was finding the matching buses.
The ticket on the bus was saying the sound the bus made.
The kids had to keep track of how many buses they found
by tracing the letter.
The alphabet blocks were back!
The kids loved using the tweezers to try to stack them up.
These girls made their own little alphabet town.
Other kids found ways to make alphabet houses!
The kids also enjoyed making wooden letters
and bedazzling them with beads!
A bus pulled up in our class and someone on the bus took a bear!
But who?
Who me? It's true! But I will give it back to you!
After reading this hilarious book,
We had a little fun with pigeon!
He decided to hide under our number buses.
We had to guess where he was hiding!
He was very sneaky...
Sometimes he tricked us!
But we always made sure he was safe
and didn't drive the bus anywhere!
Finally we decided to let pigeon drive the bus!
We had to check to see how many passengers were on the bus.
Then we had to hold up our ticket if we had the right number that matched.
What could we possibly be up to next?
Wednesday is GYM DAY!
The kids had a BLAST
playing with balloons
and BEACH BATS (a.k. pool noodles).
We definitely were warn out but full of smiles!
Music class had us laughing as we sang some silly songs to warm our mouths up!
Mrs. Helmkamp led chapel this week.
We acted out the story of Noah's Ark together.
Thank you so much for your generosity... we are up to $1,424.62!!! WOW! Keep it up!
Back in the classroom we read a sweet book about a little bear named Corduroy.
Corduroy popped up in our classroom too.
We were trying to help him
find his button by matching his button.
The "Night Patrol Man" shined his flashlight on the button he was looking for.
If they had the matching bear, they shined their light on it!
The kids also had fun creating with buttons.
They made some very interesting designs.
The kids were also up for the challenge of making letters out of buttons!
They had to pick a button card and try to make that letter.
Another great story about a bear... Blueberries for Sal!
The kids really enjoyed comparing the bears to the humans who were picking berries too!
Then they got to pretend to be little Sal.
The mom (or dad) held up the number of berries they could pick.
They filled up their bucket using a tweezers.
Little Sal had to quickly return.
The next person worked on "canning" the berries
by dropping them off in the ten frame.
They were very careful not to lose any berries.
Can you believe we have already been in school for 20 days?!!!
Thursday we celebrated another ZERO HERO day!
These little heroes helped with our rhyming.
Each kid was given a picture.
Their job was to find the picture that rhymed.
When they found it...
Their SUPER HERO got to smash it!
Some children were even up for the challenge of finding matching words!
Outside these superheroes were having fun playing a balloon game!
They had to catch it
and say the sound of the letter that was pulled from the bucket!
We have been working on the story of Noah's Ark all week.
Our challenge was to try to find a boat for Noah that wouldn't sink!
One by one we added animals to the boat.
We tested out different boats
to see how many animals it would take to make it sink.
Some worked better than others.
Some tipped over but still floated for a little bit.
Each student had a different strategy for filling the boat.
The kids waited with anticipation to see if it would sink!
Some boats tipped over after 4 animals!
Some boats didn't even sink after 50 animals!
They couldn't believe it wasn't sinking!
Noah had a tough job to get all those animals to fit on the boat!
The kids also enjoyed making number cities.
They laid out the dice to see how tall their towers needed to be.
Then their SUPER HERO came to save the number city!
Their memory verse turned out to be a RAINBOW masterpiece!
After painting some bubble wrap, the kid were surprised
to discover the masterpiece they created!
ZERO HERO DAY was definitely worth cheering for!
But wait our week wasn't done yet...
We finished the week with our Bear Day!
Our Rhyme of the Day: Blair sitting in a chair with a pear AND a CARE BEAR!
These fun bears made great Book Buddies!
They also joined us for a P/B picnic snack.
The kids had to sort the fruits that started with P and the fruits that started with B.
It was a tricky challenge,
but a YUMMY one!
The bears also worked hard matching up sandwiches for the picnic.
They had to find the letter that matched the beginning sound of their picture.
The bears were very good helpers.
And didn't even eat the sandwiches!
It was such a great game, we just had to dance!
Then it was time to BOWL!
The kids knocked down some pins with letters on them.
Whatever pins fell down,
they had to find pictures that matched with that beginning sound.
The bears were such great helpers!
We had a BEARY good time with our first Friday Reader!
Aunt Sally had us laughing
and excited to hear her great story!
We are so thankful she was able to visit!
It was a great way to end our morning!
Our bears also showed off their dance moves!
The DANCE and
FREEZE game
got us ready for the afternoon.
Next up was a balancing act.
The kids worked hard to try to get the bears to balance.
The bears had a great time playing this dice game!
After rolling the dice,
The bears moved around the outside of the carpet to different letters.
The kids were so excited when they made it all the way around to the letter Zz!
Our day was not complete until we had a Teddy Bear Picnic of our own.
We ventured outside
and found a cozy spot under a tree.
We enjoyed some pineapple and gummy bears! YUMMY!
We had one final visitor to end our week!
We had a SUPER reader that helped us learn about making SUPER choices.
It was the perfect way to end our week!
What a great week filled with so many fun adventures!
