We plowed our way through another great week!
We started off the week singing praises to God.
The kids did a great job of leading worship!
We headed back to the classroom to find more learning adventures waiting for us...
After reading a book called Little Quack,
we picked out some "lily pads" and rhyming ducks.
We set our duck on the lily pad
to see if it would float!
These little ducks brought a lot of smiles to our classroom.
We snuck out of our classroom to celebrate May Day (a day late).
Then we hid in the hallway to deliver our baskets to our "buddy class".
After we knocked on the door,
we had to be SUPER quiet!
Surprising people is SO fun!
We were having SEW much fun with quilting on Tuesday.
The kids had to find a picture hiding on the quilt
and then match it to a word on their card.
If they got four in a row, they were the winner!
This was a tricky rhyming game.
The kids were trying to finish their quilt square before their friends.
If they picked a card that rhymed with their quilt square,
they got to keep it!
If it didn't rhyme, they had to give it to their friend.
The kids discovered that tangrams
make fun quilts.
We were also busy working on number bonds this week.
We slid some cubes down the slide
and added them up with our number bond.
We had so much fun with our talented visitor everyone calls "Nanny".
She is a teacher assistant in one of the preschool classrooms,
but she also is a quilt expert!
She showed the kids the three different parts of a quilt: the batting,
the topper
and the backing.
Then she let each kid do a little sewing of their own.
The kids did such a great job!
They were so proud of themselves for making their own little quilt.
It took a lot of concentration!
They also had fun organizing
and making patterns with the quilt squares.
Some kids even made pictures with the squares.
After reading a book called The Kindness Quilt,
the kids also worked hard on these little paper quilt squares.
We will be putting these squares together to make our own kindness quilt.
We were also strutting our stuff this week as talked about farming.
These little chicks escaped from the barn.
They had to run fast
to get away from the farmer!
In music class we got to do a little Mexican Hat dance
to celebrate Cinco De Mayo a little early!
We had another fun chapel this week led by the concert band.
With their instruments, they told us the story of the fiery furnace.
The kids LOVED painting with veggies.
Who knew asparagus would make such a great paint brush!
The kids were very sneaky hiding numbers in our garden.
Their friend had to guess where the numbers were at and wrote the number down.
The kid also enjoyed planting some flowers with their group.
We will see if our kinder "garden" grows before the end of the year.
We couldn't end Veggie Day without trying some veggies!
The kids were very brave
and tried some new veggies.
They weren't so sure about some of the veggies!
Other veggies they couldn't get enough of!
We even tried frozen peas and corn! Someone said it was like eating vanilla ice cream! :)
They have even been asking for Veggie Day to be everyday!
Our farming fun continued with this mixed up egg game.
They had to find the right eggs
and put them in the hen house.
Then they wrote down the words they created.
This little tractor was delivering crops to the farmers.
They had to listen to the letter sound and write that letter down.
This tractor helped bring in some animals.
The kids had to drive the animals to the farm
and add them up. 10 and 4 makes 14.
The kids also had fun making sight word barns.
They used our sight word cups and sight word sticks.
We have some terrific barn builders.
the kids helped "Farmer Brown"
get his chickens back to work.
The "cows" even got to use the typewriter!
These mixed up tractors had the kids working hard
to make real words.
Another tractor pulled into our farm.
It brought with it a mixed up sentence.
The kids worked together to figure it out and right it down.
We ended our day with a fun Lollipop Concert.
They even played Baby Shark for us!
This was a little preview of a concert they will be having next week. The kids LOVED it!
Our little caterpillars are now butterflies!
We are excited to release them next week (we just need a warm, sunny day)!
What a good reminder this week that God has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit,
who guides us and comforts us everyday.
May your days be overflowing with God's great love!
