The year is flying by...
but we are filling each moment with smiles and excitement!
X marks the spot! We were busy being pirates this week looking for treasure.
If we didn't have an -ar (car, star, mark, etc.) "pirate" word
we had to walk the plank!
Watch out! There might be shARks splashing around.
These pirates were busying stealing treasure.
They took the coins and hid it in the treasure box.
They had to figure out which coin was hiding in the treasure box.
Some of these pirates are pretty sneaky!
We took our treasure hunting skills outside.
We had to count by 5's and read the -ar words.
The numbers led us right to the treasure!
They each got to keep a special gem from the treasure box.

A bunch of wild animals showed up in our classroom!
We decided to measure and weigh them.
We even read a few stories to our animal friends.
They turned out to be very good listeners.
Then we created our own little zoo.
After designing the zoo, the "visitors" had to stop by the ticket booth.
They had to say which animals they were going to go visit.
Then they had to pay for their tickets to the zoo.
The ticket taker had to make sure they gave them the right coin.
We are ready to go to the zoo, zoo, zoo... You can come too, too, too!
A special visitor showed up... a wonderful vet!
She brought some fun friends too!
Some of the animals we even got to feed!
A little gecko showed up.
We weren't so sure about holding that one!
A little hermit crab joined our fun.
He felt a little funny walking on our hands.
We were also amazed at his eyeballs!
The kids LOVED the guinea pig!
The kids had such a great time with our vet!
We wished she could have stayed all day!
Another great visitor stopped by! Missionary Holz stopped by! We are so close to reaching our school wide goal of $10,000! Bring in those offerings to help feed the children in Cambodia!
We surprised Mrs. Coad with a few WONDERful gifts and lots of hugs!
We also celebrated ELEPHANT AND PIGGIE DAY!
The kids did an amazing job of reading Elephant and Piggie books all by ourselves!
Some kids even made their voices sound like Elephant and Piggie!
One of my favorite visitors "popped in " this week!
We interviewed my brother about coaching basketball.
The kids asked some very interesting questions!
Coach Limback showed them a trophy his team had won this year for good sportsmanship.

Time for more Elephant and Piggie fun!
I Love My New Toy, inspired us to create our own "new toys".
I was very impressed with their creativity!
Watch Me Throw the Ball inspired us to have a little fun of our own.
The kids LOVED creating an obstacle course using different shapes.
Jumping over a cube and dribbling a sphere??? WOW! Very tricky!
The kids also enjoyed painting with shapes.
These shape designs became the covers of our alphabet art journal.
Eating shapes also brought a smile to our face!
First the kids had to sort the snack by shapes.
They were SUPER excited to eat the shapes (especially the CONE)!
To end our day we had a fun dad stop by with an experiment.
The kids did a little weight lifting first.
He told us there is about 15 pounds per square inch of air pressure
pushing down on every part of our bodies.
Then he crushed a pop can by first putting it in boiling water
and then placing it in ice!
The kids couldn't believe how it crushed it so quickly!

This week we had another great chapel!
Mrs. Bernhardt's first graders led our chapel this week!
They told the story of Pentecost and even told us how to say "Jesus loves you" in five different languages!
We also enjoyed going to see Mr. Thoelke, Zion's music director.
He showed us the different sizes of pipes in an organ.
He even gave us our own little personal concert.
We discovered Mr. Thoelke can play very loud!
The kids were mesmerized by what he had to tell them about the organ.
It was a fun way to spend our afternoon.

You are such a blessing to Zion.
We ended the week practicing being artists.
MIX IT UP! Inspired us to get our day started!
The kids LOVED this book and were amazed what happened throughout the book!
With every page we turned things got a little messier!
Mrs. Helmkamp brought bee-bot back one last time.
This time he was helping us learn about community helpers.
The kids had to listen to the clues and figure out where to move bee-bot.
The kids enjoyed being creative with the clay.
Some kids had fun building houses.
Some kids made treasure chests, with buttons for the treasure.
We also had some friends make designs in the clay. Do you see the cross?
Then it was time to get REALLY messy!
Inspired by Jackson Pollock the kids did a little action painting!
Mr. Debrick even joined us for the messy fun!
Some kids used their hands to paint.
Others enjoyed throwing paint at the paper.
It was so fun to hear their laughter and giggles!
What teamwork to create such unique masterpieces.
Yes, the kids definitely ended up with quite the messy masterpieces!
AND some fun memories to go with it!
Our week was not complete until a police officer stopped by.
The kids did a great job of asking questions!
Officer Radar did great job of answering all of our tough questions!
What a great way to end our week.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
